Bosch unveils India plans

Germany-based Robert Bosch, the world leader in diesel technology, is planning to invest Rs 850 crore in its Indian operations. This will take the companys total investment to Rs 2,650 crore by 2010. The company has a presence in India through its subsidiary Motor Industries Company (MICO). The company had increased its stake in the Indian subsidiary by 9.2% for Rs 1,300 crore recently. The board of directors of MICO, which met today, approved a proposal to change the name of the company to Bosch subject to the approval of the shareholders and regulatory authories.

Apar to sell AGIP lubricants

DAI ties up with Arch Pharma

DSM Anti Infectives (DAI), part of the Euro 9 billion DSM group, is entering into a manufacturing agreement with Mumbai based Arch Pharmalabs, a pharmaceutical major operating in the API and Intermediaries business for manufacturing of generic APIs. The company will leverage its world class innovation expertise to develop non infringing novel processes for various molecules. The company will then transfer these molecules to Arch Pharmalabs for commercial development.

Sensex futures now in US

Chicago-based US Futures Exchange (USFE) will exclusively licence the Bombay Stock Exchange's Sensex for US dollar-denominated futures trading beginning February 22 next year.
This will allow US investors to directly participate in India's equity markets.
USFE's dollar-denominated Sensex futures contract will trade 23 hours a day and settle monthly to the corresponding value of the BSE's futures contract. The contract will have a notional value of 40,000 and a tick size of $5.

RCom to invest $1bn for IPTV

Reliance Communications (RCom) and Microsoft today announced a strategic partnership to provide Internet protocol television (IPTV) services.
RCom will invest $500 million as licence fee for the software and spend an additional $500 million in setting up the IPTV infrastructure in the country. The companies have been working on the project since 2003.

Bentley Azure @ Rs 3.80cr

England-based Bentley Motors, the makers of luxury car brand Bentley, expects to sell 25 cars in India this year, and would soon open their second India outlet in Mumbai. "We expect to sell 25 cars this year in the Indian market, we hope to open our second India outlet in Mumbai by the last quarter of 2008," Satya Prakash Bagla, managing director of Exclusive Motors - the Indian partners of Bentley, said. The car maker today launched two new convertible models, Azure and Continental GTC, for the Indian market priced at Rs 3.80 crore and Rs 2.10 crore, respectively.

Mukand plans JV with Bekaert

Mukand has signed an agreement with NV Bekaert SA, Belgium to form a joint venture company to produce stainless steel wires in India.
According to a release issued by Mukand to the BSE today, the 50:50 joint venture company will set up a plant in Lonand, District Satara, Maharashtra.

Software services provider Infosys Technologies today said it had been assured by its US clients that they would increase offshoring. Having increased its billing rates by 3-4 per cent on new contracts and 2-3 per cent on old ones, the company could win more business from the US if the subprime crisis curbed spending there and drove companies to cheaper service providers in other countries.

StanChart buys 49% in UTI Sec

STCI and Standard Chartered Plc today signed a deal for Standard Chartered to acquire 49% stake in UTI Securities for Rs 147 crore.
STCI currently holds 100% of UTI Securities having acquired it in 2006 from the Administrator of the specified undertaking of the Unit Trust of India.
