Stock markets fall further on Greek woes

Mumbai/ New Delhi, June 29 (ANI): The stock markets extended losses on Monday as Greece looked set to default on its debt repayment this week, sparking concerns about foreign selling in emerging markets. In the morning session, markets fell more than 2 percent before recovering some losses. Greece will keep its banks closed on Monday and implement capital controls after international creditors refused to extend the country's bailout. Market experts Sunil Shah and Akash Jindal warned of more losses if the Greece crisis was not resolved soon. Shares in Indian companies with exposure or units in Europe were among the top losers on the BSE.

SEBI relaxes listing, fund-raising norms for start-ups

Mumbai, June 24 (ANI): Market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) plans to set up an alternative trading platform for internet start-ups, relaxing some of its requirements in an effort to encourage these companies to list at home instead of overseas. SEBI said the Institutional Trading Platform will be open to a broad range of technology companies, according to a statement released after its quarterly board meeting. The relaxed requirements include reducing the lock-in period for investors in start-ups to six months compared with three years for some initial public offerings (IPOs) and diluting disclosure standards for companies, SEBI said. The rules, which were widely expected, are aimed at luring start-ups that may have considered an overseas listing, given India has stringent requirements for regular IPOs.

The recently held conference, 'Changing face of Retail-Decoding the future', organised by Confederation of India Industry in the capital city of New Delhi, discussed about the improvisation retail industry has been showing from past some years. The industry aims to serve better services in future, as with the initiation of online segment and the positive development in the offline segment, the demand of both domestic and international retail sector presumes to upsurge. According to the Boston Consulting Group and Retailers Association of India's report titled, 'Retail 2020: Retrospect, Reinvent, Rewrite', the market is expected to double to US$ 1 trillion by 2020 from US$ 600 billion in 2015 driven by income growth, urbanisation and attitudinal shifts.
