The Himachal Pradesh capital, the tribal district of Kinnaur and several other places in the higher reaches of the state received fresh snow on Wednesday, while many areas in the lower hills witnessed rainfall which reduced the minimum temperature by a few notches. According to officials, education institutes in Shimla and Kinnaur district would remain closed on Wednesday in view of the snowfall. Fresh snowfall and rain has intensified cold wave conditions in the state, the meteorological department said.
Chandigarh and its surrounding areas received light rain on Wednesday morning.

Himachal Pradesh is bracing for more snow as a cold wave continued to lash the state on Monday, the weather office said.
Himachal Pradesh experienced slight relief from biting cold conditions as the minimum and the maximum temperatures increased by a few notches in most parts of the state on Sunday, the Meteorological (MeT) Department said. The minimum and the maximum temperatures increased by one to two degrees Celsius during the last 24 hours, the MeT Centre Shimla said. The lowest temperature in the state was recorded at Keylong at minus 7.2 degrees Celsius, it said.

The Met department Sunday predicted moderate rainfall in West Bengal over the next three days owing to formation of a western disturbance over Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. Rainfall is likely to occur over most places of South and North Bengal during the period, the Met department said.
