UP CM Yogi Adityanath inaugurates silk agriculture fair in Gorakhpur

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday inaugurated silk agriculture fair at Yogiraj Baba Gambhirnath auditorium here. He also laid the foundation stone of a Rs 11.38-crore worm rearing facility, community centres and thread machine shades and distributed monetary aid for silkworm house among beneficiaries on the occasion. While addressing people, Adityanath said that the government was aiming to increase the income of farmers manifold and make Uttar Pradesh among the top states of the country with the prosperity and happiness of farmers. UP Guv okays ordinance to amend urban body poll rules for OBC reservation

Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel on Thursday gave assent to an ordinance to amend the Municipal Corporation Act and Nagar Palika Act, in a step ahead for holding the urban local body polls with the provision of reserving seats for Other Backward Classes (OBCs). UP Cabinet approved the ordinance during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday. A senior official told PTI that the governor has given her assent to the ordinance. The official added that the amendment to the Municipal Corporation and Nagar Palika Act was necessary after the recommendations of a dedicated commission constituted to look into the backwardness of areas in the state for reservation. Goyal Aluminiums plans Rs 200 cr investment to set up EV plant in UP

Goyal Aluminiums has plans to invest Rs 200 crore to set up an electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing plant in Uttar Pradesh. The company has been allotted 4,000 square metre land from the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) for the project. "Goyal Aluminiums...is gearing up to set up a new electric vehicle manufacturing plant with an investment of Rs 200 crore," a company spokesperson told PTI on Wednesday. Recently, the company announced its foray into the EV segment through newly incorporated venture Wroley E India. "Low-speed and electric scooters will only be produced for the domestic market. The company has already received clearance from Central Institute of Road Transport (CIRT) to launch the first high-speed electric scooter in April this year," the spokesperson said. SC paves way for holding UP urban local body polls with OBC quota

The Supreme Court on Monday paved the way for holding the urban local body polls in Uttar Pradesh as it allowed the State Election Commission to issue a notification in this regard in two days with an OBC quota in terms of a report of the Uttar Pradesh Backward Classes Commission. A bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justices PS Narasimha and JB Pardiwala said, "This court, in an order dated January 4, 2023, noted that in view of the decisions of this court, the government of Uttar Pradesh issued a notification for setting up the Uttar Pradesh Backward Classes Commission in December 2022. Though the tenure of the commission was six months, it was to complete its task by March 31, 2023." It further said, "The solicitor general informs that the report has been submitted on March 9, 2023 to the cabinet. The process of notifying the local body elections is going on and will be done in two days. The plea is disposed of. The direction in this order is not to be used as precedent."

Family ID next big thing in UP for delivering schemes: Welfare Minister

Family ID -- a database of families with unique identification numbers -- will be the next big technology-based intervention in robust delivery of services and schemes to people in Uttar Pradesh after Aadhaar and direct benefit transfers (DBT), the state's Social Welfare Minister Asim Arun said. 'Family ID' was launched in January this year on a pilot basis for which registration is voluntary.
