NIA carries out searches at 7 locations in Rajasthan in PFI conspiracy case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday conducted searches at seven locations in Rajasthan in connection with a case pertaining to unlawful activities by the banned outfit Popular Front of India (PFI), an official said. The raids were conducted at three places in Kota and one each in Madhopur, Bhilwara, Bundi and Jaipur districts on residential and commercial premises of suspects, a spokesperson of the federal anti-terror agency said. During the searches, the official said, digital devices, an airgun, sharp weapons and incriminating documents were seized. The spokesperson said the searches were conducted as a follow up to a case registered suo moto by the NIA on September 19 last year after getting information from reliable sources that PFI members Sadiq Sarraf of Baran and Mohammed Asif of Kota were indulging in "unlawful activities" along with other office-bearers and cadres. Further investigation in the case is in progress, the spokesperson said.

Bihar: 2 PFI members arrested for conspiring to carry out targeted killings

Two members of the Popular Front of India (PFI) were arrested in a case related to a conspiracy by the banned group to carry out targeted killings in Bihar, a spokesperson of the NIA said on Sunday. Tanveer Raza alias "Barkati" and Mohammad Abid alias "Aryan", both residents of Bahadurpur village, were arrested from Motihari in Bihar on Saturday following raids at eight locations, the spokesperson said. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) said the arrest duo had arranged weapons and ammunition to carry out targeted killings. Earlier, four persons were arrested in the case and several incriminating articles and documents related to the PFI were seized. "With these arrests, a PFI module planning targeted killings and disrupting communal harmony has been unearthed and busted," the spokesperson said. The Madhya Pradesh Police have arrested three members of the banned outfit Popular Front of India (PFI) on charges of conspiring against the government and indulging in unlawful activities, an official said on Sunday. With this, the police have taken into custody four members of the banned outfit in the last couple of days. In the latest action, two PFI members were arrested in Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal on Saturday while the third one was arrested after being brought on production warrant from Aurangabad (in Maharashtra) in connection with a case registered by the MP Police's Special Task Force last year, the official said. PFI conspiracy case: NIA raids three locations in Kerala, Karnataka

The National Investigation Agency on Thursday conducted searches at three locations in Kerala and Karnataka in connection with a criminal conspiracy by the PFI to carry out terror activities in the country, an official said. The Popular Front of India (PFI), banned recently by the government for alleged terrorist links and spreading communal hatred, has a "well-structured and organised" presence in the Gulf countries for raising and mobilising funds, the ED said Monday after a local court took cognisance of its latest charge sheet filed against three PFI office bearers. The federal probe agency had filed the prosecution complaint or charge sheet last week before a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court in Patiala House. The dossier was filed (on November 19) to press money laundering charges and begin trial against Perwez Ahmad, Mohammad Ilias and Abdul Muqueet who were arrested by it on September 22 following nation-wide raids against the PFI the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Enforcement Directorate (ED) and various state police units. Delhi court takes cognisance of ED charge sheet against PFI in PMLA case

A Delhi court on Monday took cognisance of a charge sheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate against the Popular Front of India (PFI) and three of its members in a money laundering case related to alleged terrorism-related activities. Special Judge Shailender Malik took note of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) complaint (the agency's equivalent of a charge sheet) and directed jail authorities to produce the accused -- Perwez Ahmed, Mohd Ilias and Abdul Muqeet before the court on December 16, when it will further hear the matter. Ahmed was the president of the PFI's Delhi state unit while Ilias was its general secretary and Muqeet its office secretary, according to the charge sheet filed by ED Special Public Prosecutor N K Matta. They were arrested on September 22 in the case related to alleged laundering of Rs 120 crore. 2 PFI members booked under UAPA by Delhi Police for suspicious activities

Delhi Police has booked two Popular Front of India (PFI) members under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for their alleged suspicious activities, officials said on Wednesday. A senior police officer said an FIR has been registered against two PFI activists under IPC sections 120 B (criminal conspiracy) and 153 A (promoting enmity between different groups), along with section 10/13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act at Khajuri Khas police station, for allegedly planning and conspiring against the government and the country. However, no arrests have been made yet in the matter, he said, adding investigation is underway. This is the second case registered under the UAPA against the PFI members in the national capital. Delhi Police registers case against PFI under UAPA in Shaheen Bagh

Delhi Police has registered an FIR against the banned outfit Popular Front of India under the stringent Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) in southeast Delhi's Shaheen Bagh area, an official said on Monday. The government has imposed a ban on the Popular Front of India (PFI) and its associates -- Rehab India Foundation (RIF), All India Imams Council (AllC), National Confederation of Human Rights Organisation (NCHRO) and other organisations as unlawful associations for its alleged terror activities. The development also comes after Delhi Police's Special Cell unit along with district police conducted raids across six districts in the city last week and nabbed 30 people allegedly linked with PFI. PFI involved in money laundering, ED tells court, 3 accused sent to jail

Popular Front of India (PFI) has been involved in continuous offences of money laundering over the years, the Enforcement Directorate Friday told a Delhi Court which remanded three arrested office bearers of the banned outfit to 14 days of judicial custody. The agency also said that its investigation had revealed that the accused persons played an active role in raising or receiving bogus cash donations on behalf of PFI. The agency arrested the three accused, Perwez Ahmad, President of PFI Delhi, Mohd.
