NTPC Green Energy to raise up to Rs 9,000 cr through rupee term loan

NTPC arm NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL) has invited bids for rupee denominated term loan of up to Rs 9,000 crore. The bid document showed that NGEL intends to raise fresh debt and repay outstanding liability of Rs 8,200 crore towards NTPC by March 31, 2023 along with applicable interest cost. Also, additional funds to the tune of Rs 800 crore would be required for additional debt liability and for balance capex payments of projects which are yet to achieve full commercial operations, it stated. Thus, NGEL has invited offer for rupee term loan of up to Rs 9,000 crore, it said. The minimum amount of loan offered by banks/FIs (financial institutions) shall be Rs 1,000 crore and in multiples of Rs 500 crore thereafter, it stated. The last date for submission of bids is March 6, 2023. NTPC had incorporated NGEL in April 2022 for consolidating its renewable energy businesses and aggressively pursue its green/ sustainable energy venture.

NTPC plans to raise up to $750 million term loan in JPY denomination

State-owned power giant NTPC plans to raise term loan of USD 750 million (about Rs 6,213 crore) in Japanese Yen (JPY) denomination to finance its capital expenditure on new and ongoing projects. The company has sought bids for the JPY loan, which is to be raised through External Commercial Borrowing route. According to a bid document, the term loan would be for USD 150 million with green shoe option of USD 600 million. It also stated that the proceeds of the loan will be utilised for capital expenditure for ongoing/new capacity additions programme, renewable energy projects, including hydro, coal mining and refinancing of existing ECB/Rupee loan availed domestically for CAPEX (capital expenditure) etc. The last date for submission of bids is March 1, 2023 and proposals would be opened the same day. Andhra govt clears Rs 1.10 trn proposal of NTPC for new energy park

Public sector power generator NTPC is to set up a New Energy Park at Pudimadaka in Anakapalli district of Andhra Pradesh to produce products out of green hydrogen, green ammonia and green methanol at a cost of Rs 1,10,000 crore in two phases. An official release on Tuesday said the Andhra Pradesh State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) cleared a series of investment proposals to establish several heavy industries in the State. NTPC will set up New Energy Park at Pudimadaka in Anakapalli district to produce products of green hydrogen, green ammonia and green methanol with a total investment of Rs. 1, 10,000 crore in two phases with each phase receiving an investment of Rs. 55,000 crore, the release said. Subsidence-hit Joshimath area 15 km away from NTPC project: Power minister

Power Minister R K Singh on Thursday said the area of subsidence in Joshimath was 15 km upstream from the components of the Tapovan-Vishnugad hydropower project and there were no signs of sinking of ground around its tunnel alignment. In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Singh said land subsidence in Joshimath was "a very old issue" observed way back in 1976 and the M C Mishra Committee set up by the then state government listed "hill wash, natural angle of repose, cultivation area because of seepage and soil erosion" as probable causes for cracks in the Himalayan town. The minister said a multi-institutional committee set up by the state authorities in July last year had made no mention of NTPC Tapovan-Vishnugad hydropower project causing land subsidence in Joshimath. JSPL, NTPC, Vedanta among 59 firms that submitted bids for 36 coal blocks

The government on Tuesday said that 59 companies, including JSPL, NTPC and Vedanta, have submitted bids for 36 coal blocks that were put up for sale under the commercial mines auction. A total of 96 bids were submitted for the coal blocks. "A total of 96 bids were received under two tranches of commercial coal mine auctions," the coal ministry said in a statement. This is the highest ever bids received since the launch of commercial coal mines auction in the year 2020, the ministry said, adding, a "total of six public sector companies had submitted the bids in the ongoing round of commercial coal mines' auction as well". NTPC net profit up nearly 5% at Rs 4,854 crore in Q3 on higher revenue

State-owned power giant NTPC on Saturday reported a nearly 5 per cent rise in its consolidated net profit to Rs 4,854.36 crore for the December quarter, mainly due to higher revenue. The company's consolidated net profit was Rs 4,626.11 crore in the quarter ended December 31, 2021, as per a BSE filing. The total income rose to Rs 44,989.21 crore in the quarter from Rs 33,783.62 crore in the year-ago period. The Board of Directors also decided to pay an interim dividend at the rate of 42.50 per cent (Rs 4.25 per share) on the face value of paid-up equity shares of Rs 10 each for the financial year 2022-23. The average power tariff of the company during April-December 2022 stood at Rs 4.96 per unit compared to Rs 3.95 per unit a year ago. NTPC produces 14.55 MT coal from captive mines in Apr-Dec 2022

State-owned NTPC on Tuesday said its coal production increased 51 per cent year-on-year from its captive mines to 14.55 million tonne (MT) in April-December 2022. The power giant had produced 9.65 MT of coal from its captive coal mines in the year-ago period, NTPC said in a statement. "Coal mining division of NTPC is maintaining its growth trajectory. NTPC surpassed its earlier record with coal production of 14.55 MT till December 2022 in this fiscal compared with 9.65 MT in the same period of the previous year," it added. The four operational coal mines -- Pakri-Barwadih (Jharkhand), Chatti-Bariatu (Jharkhand), Dulanga (Odisha) and Talaipalli (Chhattisgarh) -- have contributed to accomplish the highest-ever monthly coal production of 22.83 lakh tonnes in December 2022. In the third quarter, NTPC produced 5.79 MT of coal and dispatched 5.42 MT to its power plants. NTPC, under the Ministry of Power, is India's largest power-generating company.

NTPC crosses 300 billion units electricity generation mark in FY23

State-owned power giant NTPC on Thursday crossed the 300 billion units (BU) mark of electricity generated during the current fiscal year. As of January 5, 2023, NTPC has recorded a PLF (plant load factor or capacity utilisation) of 73.7 per cent, compared to 68.5 per cent during the corresponding period in FY22, against the overall all India PLF of 63.27 per cent, a company statement said. The public sector undertaking has registered generation of 300 BU of electricity in 279 days, as of Thursday. The company achieved the 300 BU accomplishment a month before it had crossed the same mark in FY22, it added. In 2021-22, the company had crossed the 300 BU generation mark in 300 days on February 5. The company has recorded generation of 295.4 BU during April-December 2022, registering a growth of 11.6 per cent over the previous year. The NTPC group has installed capacity of 70,824 MW. Recently, the company crossed 3 GW of renewable energy capacity.
