Gujarat sees 2,220 Covid-19 cases, 10 deaths; 1,988 recover

Gujarat on Tuesday witnessed 2,220 COVID-19 cases, taking the state's tally to 3,05,338, while the death toll increased by 10 and the recovery count by 1,988, an official said. The state's toll stands at 4,510, and the number of people discharged is 2,88,565, leaving it with 12,263 active cases, including 147 critical patients, he added. "Ahmedabad reported five deaths, Surat four, and Vadodara one. Surat led with 644 new cases, followed by Ahmedabad with 613, Vadodara 257, Rajkot 207 among other districts," the official informed. A state government release said 53,89,349 people had been vaccinated so far, including 1,93,968 on Tuesday, while 6,43,855 beneficiaries have also received the seconddose. In Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, the COVID-19 tally rose to 3,619, leaving the UT with 169 active cases as 3,448 people have recovered and two patients have died. Gujarat reports 1,961 Covid-19 cases, record rise for fourth straight day

Gujarat reported 1,961 new coronavirus cases on Thursday, its highest singe-day rise since the pandemic began last year which took the tally to 2,94,130, the health department said here. Since March 22, the state is witnessing record rise in cases every day. On Wednesday the state had recorded 1,790 new cases, the highest one-day rise till then. As many as seven patients died on Thursday -- four in Surat, two in Mahisagar and one in Ahmedabad -- taking the COVID-19 death toll to 4,473, the department said. With 1,405 patients getting discharged, the number of recovered cases increased to 2,80,285. Recovery rate in the state stands at 95.29 per cent. There are now 9,372 active cases in the state with 81 patients being critical. Surat and Ahmedabad together accounted for 60 per cent of new COVID-19 cases reported on Thursday. Surat reported 628 new cases, followed by Ahmedabad with 558 cases, Vadodara 184, Rajkot 168, Jamnagar 44, Gandhinagar 38, Bhavnagar 31, Narmada

Gujarat reports 1,790 new Covid-19 cases, highest one-day rise

Gujarat recorded 1,790 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, its highest one-day rise since the pandemic began, the state health department said. It took the caseload to 2,92,169, while eight deaths pushed the toll to 4,466, it said. Two deaths each were reported in Ahmedabad and Surat and one each in Gandhinagar, Jamnagar, Rajkot and Vadodara. With 1,277 patients getting discharged, the number of recovered cases rose to 2,78,880. The state's recovery rate now stands at 95.45 per cent. There are 8,823 active patients, 79 of them on ventilators. While the number of cases has surged, symptoms in most cases are mild which is reflected by relatively less consumption of medical oxygen, the health department noted. From 241 cubic ton oxygen being consumed in hospitals during November, currently 91 cubic ton is being consumed per day, it said. Surat district reported the highest 582 coronavirus cases during the day, followed by Ahmedabad with 514 cases, Vadodara 165, Rajkot
