Electric vehicle makers laud Gujarat policy, terming it progressive

Various companies like Tata Motors, Mahindra and Hero Electric on Tuesday lauded the Gujarat government for bringing a new electric vehicle policy in the state. Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani unveiled the 'Gujarat Electric Vehicle Policy 2021', which, according to him, has been designed to see at least two lakh electric vehicles on the state roads in the next four years. To encourage people to turn to e-vehicles, the state government will provide subsidies ranging from Rs 20,000 to Rs 1,50,000 on the purchase of vehicles under this policy, which will remain effective for four years. It is estimated that around 1.10 lakh electric two-wheel vehicles, 70,000 three-wheelers and 20,000 four-wheelers will be used in the state in the next four years following the implementation of this policy. The state government will provide a subsidy of up to Rs 20,000 on the purchase of an electric two-wheeler, Rs 50,000 for a three-wheeler and Rs 1,50,000 on the purchase of a four-wheeler. We .

Gujarat records 151 new Covid-19 cases today, 2 deaths; 619 recover

Gujarat reported 151 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, taking its tally to 8,22,485, while 619 patients recovered from the infection, the state health department said. With two more deaths, the number of COVID-19 fatalities in the state rose to 10,034, it said. A total of 619 patients were discharged during the day, pushing the count of recovered cases in Gujarat to 8,06,812, said the department in a release. With this, the state's recovery rate rose to 98.09 per cent, the release said. There are now 5,639 active cases in Gujarat, of which the condition of 113 patients is critical, the department said. Ahmedabad reported 36 new cases, Surat 26, Vadodara 17, Junagadh 13 and Rajkot 12 among other districts, it said. Out of two new deaths, Ahmedabad and Surat reported one each, it said. IKEA enters Gujarat through online store and shopping app

Swedish home furnishings retailer on Friday announced the launch of its mobile shopping app and e-commerce offer in three cities of Gujarat Ahmedabad, Surat, and Vadodara. Now customers of three cities can buy IKEA products using the app or order online via the brand website offering nearly 8,000 products, said a statement. Gujarat records 1,333 Covid-19 new cases, 18 deaths; 4,098 recover

Gujarat reported 1,333 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, taking the tally to 8,12,063, while 18 patients died and nearly 4,100 recovered from the infection, the state health department said. As many as 4,098 patients were discharged from hospitals during the day, pushing the number of recovered cases in the state to 7,75,958, it said. A total of 18 patients died, increasing the COVID-19 fatality count to 9,873, said the department in a release. The state's recovery rate has further improved to 95.55 per cent. The number of active cases in the state now stands at 26,232 with 452 patients being on ventilators, the release said. Ahmedabad topped the districts with the highest number of new cases at 232, followed by Vadodara with 225 cases, Surat 177, Rajkot 116, Junagadh 80, Jamnagar 48, Valsad 30, Amreli and Kutch 29 each and Bhavnagar 28, among others.
