Cong, AAP accuse Chandigarh MP for using 'inappropriate' words for voters

The Congress and the AAP on Thursday slammed BJP MP from Chandigarh Kirron Kher, accusing her of using "inappropriate" words while referring to her constituents at an event here, and demanded that she apologise. They claimed that Kher, a second-time MP from Chandigarh, used words such as "laanat hai" and "chittar ferne chahiye" while referring to voters. Kher was addressing an event in Kishangarh here on Wednesday and she talked about the development works done for the residents of the Deep Complex locality. In a video, the MP is purportedly heard saying that "agar Deep Complex mein ek bhi banda mere ko vote na dale toh phir bade laanat ki baat hai...jaakar chittar ferne chahiye unko, kyon ki itne paise deke maine unki sadke banvayi (If not even one from Deep Complex votes for me, then it is a highly shameful thing...they need to be beaten up with slippers)". Kher appeared to be speaking in a lighter vein, but her political rivals latched on to her remarks and launched a scathing .

Ban on non-electric 2-wheeler registration in Chandigarh put buyers in fix

Hundreds of customers are in a fix due to the Chandigarh administration's policy of stopping registration of petrol-powered two-wheelers for the rest of the 2022-23 fiscal, according to sources. As per the notice by the Registration and Licensing Authority (RLA), the registration of ICE (internal combustion engine) two-wheelers in the city has been stopped since February 10 for this fiscal ending March. According to industry sources, people who have bought two-wheelers are now unable to get their High-Security Number Plates (HSRP) and physical RC copies, and use their new vehicles as dealers are not able to complete the registration process on the Vahan portal. A dealer on the condition of anonymity said, "Such a rule is arbitrary and takes the choice out of the customer's hands. People who have already bought their 2-wheelers or are about to buy are now stuck. Two-wheelers are a source of livelihood for many of those people. "The policy is drafted without considering practical ...

Wont allow Haryana to make assembly building in Chandigarh, says AAP

The AAP on Monday said Punjab has the sole right over Chandigarh and Haryana will not be allowed to construct an additional legislative assembly building in the city. Haryana will not be given an inch of land in Chandigarh, which was established on the land of dozens of villages of Punjab, Aam Aadmi Party's state chief spokesperson Malvinder Singh Kang said. Separately, Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that Haryana's land swap proposal for constructing the Vidhan Sabha building is fraught with the danger of disturbing the "already worrisome" law and order situation in Punjab. The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has also called a meeting of its senior leaders later this week to decide the party's strategy on the issue. Haryana has sought a 10-acre plot in Chandigarh for constructing the additional building of its Vidhan Sabha. It has identified land adjacent to the traffic light at Madhya Marg near the railway station road junction
