Aero India-2023 set to dazzle enthusiasts with sorties, mid-air formations

The five-day biennial Aero India show starting from February 13 in Bengaluru appears set to dazzle the enthusiasts with sorties, aerobatic performances and mid-air formations. According to Aero India's official website, 807 exhibitors including 109 from abroad have confirmed their participation at the Air Force Station at Yelahanka. Defence officials said many fighter aircraft and helicopters will perform during the aerospace and defence exhibition, which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday. There will be an India Pavilion at the Aero India show, which is based on Fixed Wing Platform theme to showcase India's growth in the area. India's Light Combat Aircraft Tejas, a single engine, light weight, highly agile, multi-role supersonic fighter, will be at the centre stage of India Pavilion. Mumbai, B'luru among best performing APAC residential markets: Knight Frank

Mumbai and Bengaluru are among five best performing residential markets in Asia Pacific in terms of annual price growth with 7 per cent increase in rates in both the cities, according to Knight Frank. In its Asia-Pacific Residential Review Index, real estate consultant Knight Frank said that Mumbai and Bengaluru have found place in the top five best performing Asia-Pacific residential markets in terms of annual price growth in H2 (second half) of 2022. As many as 14 out of 23 Asia-Pacific (APAC) cities have recorded positive annual price growth with Metro Manila ranked as the best-performing Asia-Pacific market with 24 per cent year-on-year (YoY) growth. The first Environment and Climate Sustainability Working Group (ECSWG) Meeting, under India's year-long G20 presidency, will be held here from February 9 to 11. Hosted by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, the conference will be chaired by Secretary in the ministry, Leena Nandan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Monday launch petrol blended with 20 per cent ethanol, unveil a solar and conventional energy powered cooking system and inaugurate the India Energy Week in Bengaluru. The India Energy Week (IEW) 2023, being held from February 6 to 8, is aimed to showcase India's rising prowess as an energy transition powerhouse, an official statement said. "The event will bring together leaders from the traditional and non-traditional energy industry, governments, and academia to discuss the challenges and opportunities that a responsible energy transition presents," it added. Bengaluru international airport to get additional 1,700 CISF personnel

A fresh deployment of about 1,700 CISF personnel has been sanctioned by the central government for providing anti-terror cover to the recently expanded Bengaluru international airport, officials said on Sunday. This will be in addition to the 3,500 men and women personnel of the paramilitary force already deployed at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in the Karnataka capital, they said. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at the airport's Terminal-1 is engaged in frisking passengers, scanning their cabin luggage and providing a comprehensive armed anti-hijack and counter-terrorist cover, the officials said. The Union home ministry recently sanctioned a fresh manpower of about 1,700 CISF personnel for the Bengaluru airport in addition to the 3,500 staff currently posted there, a senior security officer told PTI. DGCA slaps Rs 10 lakh fine on Go First for Bangalore airport incident

Aviation regulator DGCA on Friday imposed a Rs 10 lakh fine on Go First for the incident wherein 55 passengers were left behind in a passenger coach at Bangalore airport on January 9. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had issued a show-cause notice to the airline following the incident. "Perusal of (the) reply of Go First reveals that there was improper communication, coordination between terminal coordinator, commercial staff and crew regarding (the) boarding of passengers in the aircraft. "The airline failed to ensure adequate arrangement for ground handling, preparation of load and trim sheet, flight dispatch and passenger/cargo handling," DGCA said in a statement. For these lapses, the watchdog has imposed a penalty of Rs 10 lakh on the airline.
