Air India 'peeing' incident: Delhi Police arrests accused from Bengaluru

Delhi Police has arrested from Bengaluru the man who allegedly urinated on a woman co-passenger on an Air India flight, officials said on Saturday. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Airport) Ravi Kumar Singh said, "Accused Shankar Mishra in IGIA case has been arrested from Bengaluru by a Delhi Police team. He has been brought to Delhi and further investigation into the case is in progress." Mishra allegedly urinated on the woman, a senior citizen, in an inebriated condition in the business class of the Air India flight from New York to Delhi on November 26 last year. Delhi Police registered an FIR against Mishra on January 4 on a complaint given by the woman to Air India.

Hero MotoCorp commences VIDA V1 electric scooter deliveries in Bengaluru

Hero MotoCorp on Friday said it has commenced customer deliveries of its first electric scooter VIDA V1. The first electric vehicle of the brand was delivered in Bengaluru. Deliveries in Jaipur and Delhi will follow, the company said in a statement. "Our vision with VIDA is to establish future oriented mobility trends that will benefit the customers as well as the planet. With the commencement of customer deliveries, we are beginning to realise our vision," Hero MotoCorp Chairman and CEO Pawan Munjal said. In October this year the company had forayed into the electric vehicle segment with the launch of VIDA V1, which comes with removable batteries and three-way charging options. The electric scooter has a range of 163 km on a single charge with a top speed of 80 km/hr. It is available in two variants VIDA V1 Plus at Rs 1,35,705 and VIDA V1 Pro at Rs 1,46,880 (effective on-road price Delhi), inclusive of all connected features, portable charger and charging service.

Schneider Electric to invest Rs 425 crore for smart factory in Bengaluru

Schneider Electric on Thursday said it plans to invest Rs 425 crore to develop a new smart factory in Bengaluru. "The new smart facility will consolidate 6 out of 10 existing factories of the company in Bengaluru, under one roof," Schneider Electric said in a statement. Under the plan, the new factory will be expanded to 10 lakh square feet from the current 5 lakh square feet. "Our new manufacturing campus will be one of our largest smart factories, globally, to be based in India. It will contribute to the country's economic growth in coming years, while significantly contribute to make India Atmanirbhar," Anil Chaudhry, Zone President - India and CEO & MD of Schneider Electric India Pvt Ltd, said.

Karnataka to start screening international passengers at airport: Minister

The Karnataka government will start screening international passengers at Bengaluru airport in view of a sudden spurt in COVID-19 cases in some parts of the world, Health Minister K Sudhakar said on Wednesday He, however, did not specify from which date the screening process will begin at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) here. We will have to take certain precautionary measures in the wake of global situation. KIA has a high inflow of international passengers. We will start screening passengers there, Sudhakar said. The Minister emphasised the need for people to take precaution dose of COVID-19 vaccine amid a surge in COVID-19 cases in some parts of the world, especially in China. He said new COVID-19 guidelines would be issued. The state government has taken measures to send positive samples for genome sequencing to keep track of emerging variants, as per Union Health Ministry's guidelines. Bengaluru tops in APAC region in flexible office space stock; Delhi-NCR 5th

Bengaluru has the highest supply of premium flexible office space in Asia Pacific region at 10.6 million square feet, according to CBRE. In its latest report, real estate consultant CBRE said that Bengaluru topped the list of Asia-Pacific region (APAC) cities having the highest flexible stock ahead of 11 major cities. As of September 2022, Bengaluru recorded 10.6 million square feet (Grade-A assets) flexible stock, the highest among all major APAC cities, including Shanghai, Beijing, Seoul, Tokyo and Singapore. Delhi-NCR ranked fifth in the list of 12 cities with 6.6 million square feet of flexible stock in Grade-A assets, while Hyderabad was at seventh position with a stock of 5.7 million square feet. Tata Motors subsidiary signs deal with BMTC to supply 921 electric buses

Automobile major Tata Motors on Friday announced that Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has signed an agreement with its subsidiary company for the operation of 921 low-floor electric buses in the city. As part of the agreement, subsidiary firm TML Smart City Mobility Solutions will supply, operate and maintain 921 units of electric buses for 12 years, Tata Motors said in a statement. It further said that Tata Starbus Electric is an indigenously-developed 12-metre-long vehicle with superior design and best-in-class features for sustainable and comfortable commute. It further said that Tata Motors has till date supplied more than 730 electric buses across multiple cities in India, which have cumulatively clocked more than 55 million kilometres.

Astrome deploys E-band radio for internet connectivity in rural Karnataka

Bangalore based deep-tech startup Astrome on Monday said it had deployed the first indigenously developed E-band radio to provide affordable internet connectivity in rural parts of Karnataka. The GigaMesh, which uses millimetre wave radio frequencies, was deployed from Sompura gram panchayat to Nidavanda village in rural Bangalore district to facilitate 4G and 5G connectivity, Astrome Technologies founder and CEO Neha Satak said. GigaMesh is an E-band radio, with Multiple-Point-to-Point (Multi-P2P) communication, making it the most effective way to distribute fiber capacity, wirelessly, he said. Through this, we have managed to bring high speed connectivity to Nidavanda village and are looking forward to more such successful deployments in the future, the Astrome CEO said. In terms of applicability, a single GigaMesh at a Gram Panchayat in Rural India, can connect to multiple surrounding villages, thus providing a significant cost advantage, a company statement said. Bengaluru is likely to witness light to moderate rains and cloudy skies until Sunday, due to the effect of cyclone Mandous, which crossed the coast in neighbouring Tamil Nadu.
