Sun Mobility aims to serve 100k vehicles through battery swapping platform

Sun Mobility, an energy infrastructure and services provider for electric mobility, on Thursday said it aims to serve 10 lakh vehicles through its platform by 2025. The company unveiled its SwapX compact battery swapping station at the Auto Expo 2023 here, with an aim to enable individuals to become franchisees as it looks to accelerate expansion of network. Besides, Sun Mobility also showcased its next generation battery pack S2.1, which has a higher power battery offering 45 per cent more range and interoperability. "Our aim is to have one million vehicles on our platform," SUN Mobility co-founder and chairman Chetan Maini said. The company, which offers battery swapping service to two- and three-wheelers and small four-wheelers, has already deployed over 240 stations in more than 18 cities in India. Atul Auto forays into EV space, launches two electric three-wheelers

Three-wheeler maker Atul Auto on Wednesday announced its foray into the electric vehicle space by launching two models at the Auto Expo 2023. Atul Greentech Private Ltd (AGPL), a subsidiary of Atul Auto, launched Mobili, a passenger vehicle, and cargo variant Energie. Both Mobili and Energie are built with industry-leading technology, telematics and Battery Management Systems (BMS), said a statement. The company has not disclosed the price of the two variants. Atul Auto Director Vijay Kedia said: "With our new electric additions, we aim to be technology leaders and provide intelligent, data-driven last-mile connectivity. Our advanced processes and infrastructure is the backbone of our business and empowers us to create and deliver world-class products." Greaves Cotton unveils new 2-wheeler, 3-wheeler EVs at Auto Expo 2023

Engineering company Greaves Cotton on Wednesday unveiled its range of electric two-wheeler and three-wheeler electric vehicles at the ongoing Auto Expo 2023. The company at the event unveiled three two-wheelers under Ampere brand series -- Ampere Primus, Ampere NXG and a multi-utility scooter Ampere NXU which can be also used for deliveries. In the commercial three-wheeler segment, the company unveiled an electric passenger vehicle Greaves ELP, cargo EV Greaves ELC and a futuristic cargo concept Greaves Aero Vision. Greaves Electric Mobility Private Ltd, CEO and Executive Director, Sanjay Behl said Ampere Primus will be available during the ongoing quarter, while rest of the vehicles will be made available during the course of next financial year. Auto Expo returns after 3 years; some prominent firms to skip event

India's flagship motor show Auto Expo returns this week after three years having been hit by the pandemic, albeit some of the major manufacturers staying away from the event. The likes of Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata Motors, Kia India, Toyota Kirloskar and MG Motor India will lead the traditional automakers at the show at Greater Noida that will witness five global launches and 75 product launches and unveils. Yet, others such as Mahindra & Mahindra, Skoda, Volkswagen and Nissan along with luxury car makers like Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi will be conspicuous by their absence in the biennial show that was originally scheduled to be held in 2022 but was postponed to this year due to Covid-19. Maruti Suzuki launches two CNG powertrain options of SUV Grand Vitara

Maruti Suzuki India on Friday said it has launched two CNG powertrain options of its mid-sized SUV Grand Vitara, priced at Rs 12.85 lakh and Rs 14.84 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The country's largest carmaker said the CNG trims come with a five-speed manual gearbox with a fuel efficiency of 26.6 km/kg. The 1.5 litre gasoline-powered variants of the car are priced from Rs 10.45 lakh to Rs 19.49 lakh. "The introduction of the S-CNG option further expands the appeal of the Grand Vitara. The Grand Vitara S-CNG will contribute to our aggressive plan to widen our green-powertrain offerings, expanding to 14 models," Maruti Suzuki India Senior Executive Officer Marketing & Sales Shashank Srivastava said in a statement. The Grand Vitara S-CNG can also be owned through Maruti Suzuki Subscribe at an all-inclusive monthly subscription fee starting from Rs 30,723, the company stated.

Skoda Auto India posts 48% jump in sales at 4,788 units in December

KODA AUTO India on Sunday reported a 48 per cent rise in sales at 4,788 units in December 2022. The company sold 3,234 units in December 2021, KODA AUTO India said in a statement. For the calendar year 2022, sales grew over two-fold at 53,721 units as against 23,858 units sold in 2021, it added. KODA AUTO India Brand Director Petr olc said in 2022 "we doubled our sales over the previous year, we hit monthly and quarterly sales records, we expanded our network with more touchpoints and being closer to our customers..." The company said it also exceeded the target of 225 sales and service touchpoints and has close to 240 customer touchpoints across India at present.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor sales drop 3.8% to 10,421 units in December

Toyota Kirloskar Motor on Sunday reported a 3.8 per cent decline in its dispatches to dealers at 10,421 units in December 2022. The company had clocked wholesales of 10,834 units in December 2021, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) said in a statement. For the calendar year 2022, total wholesales were at 1,60,357 units as against 1,30,768 units in 2021, a growth of 23 per cent. The sales in 2022 were also the company's highest wholesales in the last 10 years, it said, adding the previous record was in 2012 with a total of 1,72,241 units. TKM Associate Vice President, Sales and Strategic Marketing Atul Sood said 2022 has been "tremendous" for the company both in terms of new product launches such as the Urban Cruiser Hyryder and the Innova Hycross, as well as sales performance. Maruti Suzuki India posts 9% drop in wholesales at 1,39,347 units in Dec

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd on Sunday reported a 9 per cent decline in total wholesales at 1,39,347 units in December 2022 compared to the year-ago month. The company had clocked a total sales of 1,53,149 units in the same month in 2021, Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) said in a statement. Total domestic wholesales were at 1,13,535 units last month as against 1,26,031 units in December 2021, down 9.91 per cent, it added. Sales of mini cars comprising Alto and S-Presso were lower at 9,765 units as compared to 16,320 units in the year-ago month. Similarly, sales of compact cars consisting of models such as Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, Tour S and WagonR were lower at 57,502 units as against 69,345 units in December 2021, it said. On the other hand, utility vehicles such as Brezza, Ertiga, S-Cross, XL6 and Grand Vitara clocked higher sales last month at 33,008 units as against 26,982 units in the year-ago period.
