Mumbai, Nov 12 (ANI): Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley came out in defence of the indirect taxation reform and termed it as 'monumental'. His defence came a day after former Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Raghuram Rajan criticized the Goods and Services tax (GST) reform. He also maintained that the GST disrupted the growth for only two quarters after which it increased to seven percent to 7.7 percent and then to 8.2 percent last quarters. He said, "You will always have critics and cynics who will come up and say GST slowed down India's growth. But is this a response to every monumental reform? The Union Minister was speaking at Union Bank of India's 100th anniversary celebrations event through a video link.
New Delhi/Mumbai, Nov 10 (ANI): Fuel prices continued to witness a decline on Saturday in the national capital as well as financial capital of the country. In New Delhi, petrol is being sold 17 paise lower than the previous rates at Rs 77.89 per litre, while diesel is being sold at Rs 72.58 per litre after a 16 paise decline. Petrol and diesel are being sold at Rs 83.40 per litre and Rs 76.05 per litre, respectively, in Mumbai, after a reduction of 17 paise each. Fuel prices had earlier witnessed a relentless hike in the country, burning holes in commuters' pockets.

Petrol and diesel prices in Delhi stand at Rs 78.06/litre (decrease by Rs 0.15) and Rs 72.74 /litre (decrease by Rs 0.15), respectively. Petrol and diesel prices in Mumbai are Rs 83.57 /litre (decrease by Rs 0.15) and Rs 76.22 (decrease by Rs 0.16), respectively. Recent trends of price decline started after fuel prices touched record high.

New Delhi, Nov 02 (ANI): Petrol and diesel prices continued to dip on Friday. The prices of petrol and diesel stand at Rs 79.18 per litre (decrease by Rs 0.19) and Rs 73.64 per litre (decrease by Rs 0.14) respectively in Delhi. Prices of petrol in Mumbai went down to Rs 84.68 per litre (decrease by Rs 0.18) and that of diesel to Rs 77.18 per litre (decrease by Rs 0.14). The trend of fuel prices coming down has been observed from past two weeks. Earlier, fuel prices hit record high before coming down gradually.

While diesel prices remained unchanged, petrol witnessed a decrease of 18 paise in Delhi as compared to Tuesday. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, petrol prices witnessed a marginal decline of 16 paise to now be sold at Rs 84.86 per litre. Diesel prices remained unchanged in the financial capital. New Delhi, Oct 30 (ANI): Providing relief to the consumers, the fuel prices continued to fall on Tuesday with petrol and diesel now being sold at Rs 79.55 per litre and Rs 73.78 per litre respectively in the national capital. Compared to Monday, petrol and diesel prices witnessed a decrease of 20 and seven paise respectively in Delhi on Tuesday. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, petrol and diesel are today being sold at Rs 85.04 (decreased by 20 paise) and Rs 77.32 (decreased by eight paise), respectively. Fuel prices had earlier witnessed a relentless hike in the country, burning a hole in commuters' pocket. However, the Central Government earlier this month announced a reduction of Rs 2.50 per litre on both petrol and diesel prices after curbing excise duty on the commodity by Rs 1.50 per litre.
New Delhi, Oct 29 (ANI): The fuel prices continued to witness a downfall on Monday with petrol and diesel now being sold at Rs 79.75 and Rs 73.85 per litre in the national capital. Petrol and diesel witnessed a decrease of 30 and 20 paise respectively in Delhi as compared to the rates on October 28. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, the fuel prices witnessed a marginal decline with petrol now being sold at Rs 85.24 per litre (decreased by 30 paise) and diesel is priced at Rs 77.40 per litre (decreased by 21 paise). Gorakhpur (UP), Oct 23 (ANI): Terracotta craftsmen in Gorakhpur are making products for Diwali. The demand for terracotta products increases during the festival. These terracotta products include diyas and several other home decor products such as idols of God and Goddess, lantern, bullock cart, etc. The price of these products starts from Rs 5 to Rs 1,000. According to a craftsman, "We earn around Rs 1 Lakh annually. There's good business only during Diwali. There's a high demand for decorative pieces. If government provides us facilities, equipment, arrangement for clay, it'll be helpful".
New Delhi, Oct 23 (ANI): In what could bring respite to citizens, fuel prices witnessed reduction on Tuesday. In Delhi, petrol price was slashed by 10 paise to retail at Rs 81.34 per litre, while diesel is being sold 07 paise lower at Rs 74.85 per litre. Price of petrol has been reduced by 10 paise to retail at Rs 86.81 per litre, while diesel is being sold at Rs 78.46 per litre after a 08 paise cut in Mumbai. In Delhi, all 400 petrol pumps along with linked CNG dispensing units remained shut from 6 am on Monday till 6 am on Tuesday, in protest against Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government's refusal to reduce Value Added Tax (VAT) on diesel and petrol in the national capital.

New Delhi, Oct 14 (ANI): Fuel prices continue to burn holes in the pocket of common people, showing no sign of relief in the coming days. Fuel prices continued its upward trend on Sunday, with petrol being retailed at Rs 82.72 per litre and diesel at Rs 75.38 in the national capital. In Mumbai, the price of petrol has touched Rs 88.18 per litre and diesel costs Rs 79.02 per litre. Similar trends were witnessed in Chennai, where the prices of petrol and diesel reached Rs 85.99 per litre and Rs 79.71 per litre respectively. In Kolkata, petrol is being sold at Rs 84. 54 per litre, while diesel has reached Rs 77.23.A steep hike has been witnessed in the fuel prices since the past few months. The Opposition has repeatedly blamed the Union Government for not doing enough to keep a check on prices, while the latter has maintained that global crude oil prices and other international factors are causing a hike in prices of petroleum products.
New Delhi/Mumbai, Oct 13 (ANI): Fuel prices continued to soar in Delhi and Mumbai, with petrol and diesel rates being hiked. People in one voice urged Centre to take some action and cut fuel prices. Fuel prices have been witnessing a steep rise since the past few months. Petrol rates have been increased by 18 paise per litre, taking its price to Rs 82.66 per litre in Delhi while a litre of diesel is retailing at Rs 75.19 with a hike of 29 paise on Saturday. Skyrocketing prices of fuel are also continuing to burn holes in the pockets of common man in Mumbai, where petrol is retailing at Rs 88.12 per litre (increased by Rs 0.18) and diesel at Rs 78.82 per litre (increased by Rs 0.31).
New Delhi, Oct 13 (ANI): Social networking giant Facebook Inc. clarified that hackers accessed personal information of accounts of almost 30 million users. Earlier, Facebook had said that a security breach had affected the accounts of as many as 50 million people. In a statement, Facebook said that hackers accessed the name, contact details and other information of the accounts of 14 million people. It added that hackers also stole information in regard to name and contact details of the accounts of another 15 million people. This also included username, gender, locale/language, relationship status, religion, hometown, self-reported current city, birthdate, device types used to access Facebook, education, work, the last 10 places they checked into or were tagged in, website, people or pages they follow, and the 15 most recent searches.

Mumbai, Oct 11 (ANI): Indian rupee hit an all-time low of 74.45 against the US dollar on Thursday. Market expert Sunil Shah reacted on the same and said that Dollar is getting stronger than other currencies instead of rupee becoming weaker. He added that Dollar is strengthening because of the federal policies and sale of Foreign Portfolio Investment (FPI) is making Dollar stronger. "Oil prices are also pushing rupee downwards," added Shah.
New Delhi, Oct 04 (ANI): Bringing a big relief to consumers, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday announced that the government will cut fuel prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 2.50. He also said that the government can be in a situation to give relief when the domestic parameters of revenue are strong. Briefing the media, Jaitley said, "We are able to give relief to consumers only when the domestic parameters of revenue are strong. Today during our interministerial discussions we will decrease excise duty by Rs 1.50. The Centre will give relief of Rs 2.50 to consumers on petrol and diesel."
New Delhi, Oct 04 (ANI): ICICI Bank Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD) Chanda Kochhar has resigned on Thursday with immediate effect. She has been replaced by Sandeep Bakshi. He will serve as the new MD and CEO for five years. The board had accepted Kochhar's request for early retirement. An enquiry was pending against Kochhar regarding conflict of interests. The bank said the enquiry pending against her will remain unaffected by Kochhar's resignation. Sandeep Bakshi was in June appointed as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of ICICI bank.
New Delhi, Oct 04 (ANI): Civil Aviation Secretary RN Choubey said that the recent trend of increasing fuel prices and devaluation of rupee against US Dollars have not affected the airfare significantly. "There is so much competition in aviation market, that airlines are absorbing the cost and the impact of fuel prices and devaluation has not impacted the airfare significantly so far", said Secretary Choubey while addressing a press conference.
New Delhi, Oct 01 (ANI): Fuel price across the country has hiked again, causing inconvenience to people. Adding on to the woes of the common man, the prices of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) also hiked by Rs 1.70/kg and is now being sold at Rs 44.30/kg. Similarly, the subsidised Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders will now cost Rs 502.4 per cylinder. The agitated commuters say that the rise in prices of petrol and diesel has left them with little to spend on other important items. They also said that LPG should come under Goods and Services Tax (GST).
