Rise in enrolment in govt schools proof of 'School Chalo' success: UP CM

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said the number of students enrolled in state-run schools has risen from 1.34 crore in 2017 to 1.92 crore in 2023, proving that his government's 'School Chalo' campaign is a success. The Adityanath government has been launching the month-long campaign every year since 2017 around the start of the new academic session with an aim to ensure 100 per cent enrolment in primary and upper primary schools in the state. Exhorting parents to send their children to school to achieve 100 percent literacy rate, Adityanath said his government has improved education infrastructure and claimed that before the BJP came to power in 2017, schools in the state lacked basic amenities. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday inaugurated silk agriculture fair at Yogiraj Baba Gambhirnath auditorium here. He also laid the foundation stone of a Rs 11.38-crore worm rearing facility, community centres and thread machine shades and distributed monetary aid for silkworm house among beneficiaries on the occasion. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Thursday said his government has given jobs to over 5.5 lakh youngsters in the last six years with complete fairness and transparency. While handing over appointment letters to newly appointed officers of various departments recruited through the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission examinations, he said 43 candidates from the Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Coaching Scheme have cleared the test. UP power dept staff say strike has hit distribution, seek CM's intervention

The Uttar Pradesh electricity department employees, who have stopped work for three days since last night, on Friday claimed that their strike has hit power distribution in parts of the state and sought Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's intervention to end the atmosphere of confrontation. The employees began their strike at 10 pm on Thursday, claiming some of their demands agreed by the government in December last year have not been fulfilled by power corporations even after three months. The demands related to the selection of chairman and managing director in power companies and "pay anomalies". The government said last evening if the strike creates problems for the public, it will take action against the employees under ESMA and threatened to sack contractual workers who do not return to work.
