Apologised to Virat after that run out, he was okay about it: Rahane

Ajinkya Rahane on Friday said he had apologised to Virat Kohli after his horrible mix-up with him led to the India captain's game-changing run out in the first Test against Australia in Adelaide. Kohli was looking solid before the suicidal run out for 74 on the opening day at Adelaide Oval. Upon realising that there was no run in it, Rahane decided to send back Kohli but it was too late by then. What followed was an inexplicable batting collapse, due to which the visitors crumbled to their lowest Test score of 36 in their second innings. "After the end of day's play I went and said sorry to him (Kohli) but he was all okay, he was okay about it," Rahane said on the eve of the second Test here. "We both understood that the situation we were in, we were going well at that point, but such things happen in cricket, you got to respect that and you got to move forward." Stand-in skipper Rahane admitted that the run out handed Australia the momentum as they recorded an eight-wicket win in

Rahul static at 3rd, Kohli improves to 7th in ICC T20I batting rankings

KL Rahul retained his third position, while India skipper Virat Kohli improved a rung to the seventh spot in the ICC men's T20I player rankings for batsman released on Wednesday. In fact, Rahul and Kohli are the only two Indians to feature in the top-10 list of players rankings in all three categories -- batsman, bowlers and all-rounders. With 816 points, Rahul is behind Dawid Malan (915) and Babar Azam (820) in the list, while Kohli has 697 points in his kitty. Kohli is ranked inside top-10 in all the three formats, being at the top position in ODI batting rankings and occupying the second place in Test batting chart. Among others, New Zealand opener Tim Seifert and fast bowler Tim Southee have attained career-best positions after playing important roles in the 2-1 series win over Pakistan. Seifert advanced 24 slots to a career-best ninth position after a fine run in the home series saw him top the aggregate with 176 runs, while Southee's six wickets in the rubber have lifted him
