Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Sunday said his Uttar Pradesh counterpart Yogi Adityanath has "revived the pride of our faith" and appreciated the development works undertaken by the state government in Ayodhya. Shinde and his team on Sunday paid a courtesy visit to Adityanath at his official residence here. Adityanath also hosted a dinner in honour of the Maharashtra chief minister and his entourage. The Shiv Sena leader was on a two-day tour of Uttar Pradesh during which he visited Ayodhya, his first since becoming Maharashtra chief minister last June. During their meeting with Adityanath, the group of ministers from Maharashtra shared their experience of visiting Ayodhya and appreciated the development works being undertaken in the city. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday exhorted people of Uttar Pradesh to vote for the BJP in the upcoming urban local body polls, saying a triple-engine government is a must for uninterrupted and rapid development of the state. A grand memorial will be constructed to preserve the memory of Mangal Pandey, the hero of India's first freedom struggle, Uttar Pradesh Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh said here on Saturday. Singh was taking part in a programme on the death anniversary of Pandey. After garlanding Pandey's statue at Kadam Chauraha, Singh announced, "A grand memorial will be constructed in Nagwa, the native village of Shaheed Mangal Pandey, to preserve his memory." Pandey was a sepoy (infantryman) in the 34th Bengal Native Infantry regiment of the British East India Company. He had rebelled against the British during the Great Revolt of 1857. Singh said the people of Ballia played a leading role in the freedom struggle and Pandey's name was at the top of that list. "Amar Shaheed Mangal Pandey, who laid down his life in the freedom struggle, will remain an inspiration for the youth of the country. I am ready to do anything for such a great man," Singh added. He was speaking after laying the foundation stone of a rural mini-stadium at Bholaram Maskara Inter College in Sahjanwa here, which will be built at a cost of Rs 10.43 crore. The Noida Police on Friday apprehended a teenager from Lucknow who is believed to have sent an email to a media house, threatening to assassinate Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, officials said. The 16-year-old boy, who hails from Bihar, was picked up from the Chinhat area of the state capital on Friday morning and has been brought here, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Noida) Rajneesh Verma said. An FIR was lodged in connection with the case of April 5 at Sector 20 police station here after which the matter was investigated, technical teams also roped in to trace the sender of the email, which contained the threat message, Verma said. On the basis of the investigation, the email sender was traced and found in Lucknow's Chinhat area. The sender turned out to be a schoolboy, who has just completed his Class 11 and will be beginning Class 12 in this session, the police officer told PTI.
