Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav's daughter-in-law Aparna Yadav joined the BJP on Wednesday. She joined the party in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya and and its state chief Swatantra Dev Singh. She is married to Prateek Yadav, son of Mulayam Singh Yadav's second wife while SP president Akhilesh Yadav is his son from the first marriage. Aparna Yadav said she has always been impressed with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and added that the nation's interest has always been her priority. There had been much speculation about her joining the BJP, and the development highlights the rift in the SP's ruling family at a time when Akhilesh Yadav has been working to rally the party's base in the run up to the state assembly polls. The BJP may field her in the polls, sources said. UP poll: Doctors, engineers find place in AAP's 1st list of 150 candidates

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday released a list of 150 candidates for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Doctors and engineers were among the candidates.The AAP will contest on all 403 seats in the Assembly elections. 2 nominations filed so far for first phase of UP assembly elections

Two nomination papers have been filed so far for the first phase of assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh, officials said on Saturday. One aspiring candidate filed nomination from the Sahibabad assembly constituency in Ghaziabad district on Saturday, while Samajwadi Party MLA from Kairana Nahid Hasan submitted his papers on the first day of the nomination on Friday. According to the Election Commission, in the first phase of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, 58 assembly constituencies spread over 11 districts will go to polls on February 10. The last date of filing nominations is January 21. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on January 24, while January 27 is the last date for withdrawal of nominations. Counting of votes will be held on March 10. The districts which are going to polls in this phase are Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura and Agra. BJP names 107 candidates for UP polls, fields CM Yogi from Gorakhpur

The BJP on Saturday announced names of 107 candidates for the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls and fielded Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath from Gorakhpur city. The party has named candidates for the seats going to the polls in the first two phases. The list was released by the BJP's Uttar Pradesh in-charge and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan along with the party general secretary Arun Singh during a press conference at the party's headquarters here. Pradhan said Adityanath will be the BJP's candidate from Gorakhpur City and Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya from Sirathu. Adityanath was a five-term Lok Sabha member from Gorakhpur.
