UIDAI signs agreement with SETS for joint R&D in deep tech domains

The Unique Identification Authority of India and state-owned Society for Electronic Transactions and Security on Thursday signed a pact to conduct joint research for the development of tools and products in deep tech domains, an official statement said. As part of the memorandum of understanding (MoU), both organisations will carry out joint research in deep tech and emerging tech areas like cyber security, IoT security, mobile device security, financial network slice security and hardware security, etc. Scientists and officers of both organisations will work on Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain Technology for Cyber Security, Quantum Security and Cryptography focused innovations, such as Quantum Random Number Generator, Crypto API Libraries, Quantum-Safe Cryptography, etc," the statement said. UIDAI makes Aadhaar document update facility online free till June 14

The Unique Identification Authority of India has made document update facility online for Aadhaar free till June 14, an official statement said on Wednesday. Earlier, residents were required to pay Rs 25 to update their documents on the Aadhaar portal. "The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has decided to allow residents to update documents in their Aadhaar online free of cost, a people-centric move that will benefit millions of residents...The free service is available for the next three months, i.e., March 15 to June 14, 2023," the official statement said. Scale of digital public infrastructure staggering, says UIDAI CEO

The pandemic years strengthened people's awareness about the significance of digital economy, Saurabh Garg, Chief Executive Officer of Aadhaar-issuing body UIDAI said on Friday. The numbers and scale of digital public infrastructure today, are "staggering", Garg said speaking at IPCIDE annual conference 'State of India's Digital Economy'. For Aadhaar, between 2019 to 2022, the number of authentications doubled, he said. "When you consider any of the digital public infrastructure Aadhaar obviously being the foundational ID and therefore being basic to many of the others...We've seen between 2019 to 2022, a 100 per cent increase in the number of authentications that has been done, we've doubled it. And we reached a stage that we're doing around 70 to 80 million transactions per day," Garg said. The growth underscores the point that growth of digital economy is "so much more faster". UIDAI urges verification entities to comply with Aadhaar usage hygiene

Aadhaar-issuing body UIDAI has issued a set of guidelines to Offline Verification Seeking Entities (OVSEs) with several usage hygiene protocols, stronger safety mechanisms at user level and ways to enhance residents' trust while using Aadhaar voluntarily. Notably, entities have been told to perform verification of Aadhaar after explicit consent of a Aadhaar holder. Also, entities must maintain the log or record of the explicit consent received from residents for any future audit by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) or any other legal agency. "These entities need to be courteous to residents and assure them about the security and confidentiality of their Aadhaar while conducting offline verification," UIDAI said in a statement. Now Aadhaar holders can update addresses online with family head's consent

Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has now allowed residents to update addresses in Aadhaar online with the consent of their head of family, an official statement said on Tuesday. The new process can be initiated after submitting proof of relationship documents like a ration card, mark sheet, marriage certificate, passport etc, mentioning the name of both the applicant and head of family (HOF) and the relationship between them. The process requires OTP-based authentication by the HOF. In case proof of relationship document is not available, UIDAI provides the resident to submit a self-declaration by the HOF in the UIDAI-prescribed format, as per the statement. Use Aadhaar confidently but maintain usage hygiene as bank account: UIDAI

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has advised people to use Aadhaar confidently as per their choice to avail benefits and services, but to observe the same level of usage hygiene as one would for other identity documents including bank account, PAN or passport. Aadhaar-issuing body UIDAI also urged residents not to leave Aadhaar letter / PVC Card, or its copy unattended. Residents are advised not to share Aadhaar openly in the public domain, particularly on social media and other public platforms, UIDAI said in a statement. UIDAI urges Aadhaar card holders to update documents submitted 10 years ago

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has urged Aadhaar holders who were issued the unique identity 10 years back and who have never updated their records, to revise their information in its database. Aadhaar holders can update their unique ID records by uploading supportive documents (proof of identity and proof of address) either online through myAadhaar portal or offline by visiting the nearest Aadhaar centre, UIDAI said in statement. "Residents who had got their Aadhaar issued 10 years back, and have never updated after that in these years, such Aadhaar number holders are encouraged to get their documents updated," the statement said.
