India lose third T20 International to England despite Suryakumar special

Suryakumar Yadav gave a 360 degree masterclass enroute to a special hundred but England pulled off a consolatory 17-run win over India in the third T20 International here on Sunday. Dawid Malan made a sublime 77 off 39 balls as England put India's second string attack to sword to finish with a mammoth 215 for seven. Surykumar (117 off 55 balls) kept India in the hunt with his classy effort but lacked support from other batters while chasing the huge target. India's innings ended at 198 for nine in 20 overs. India sealed the three-match series 2-1, having won in Southampton and Birmingham. India were on the backfoot at the start of the run chase, struggling to 31 for three in five overs. Openers Rohit Sharma (11) and Rishabh Pant (1) perished cheaply and it was another failure for Virat Kohli (11), who was caught at cover while trying to manufacture a third consecutive hit after collecting a four and a straight six off David Willey. Suryakumar brought India back into the game wit

England picks Jos Buttler as captain of T20 and ODI teams as Morgan retires

Jos Buttler was promoted to England's new white-ball captain on Thursday and took immediate charge of the Twenty20 and one-day international cricket teams. Vice-captain since 2015, the 31-year-old Buttler has deputized for Eoin Morgan on 14 occasions, including in the Netherlands last week after Morgan sat out with a groin injury. Morgan announced his retirement from international cricket on Tuesday and the England and Wales Cricket Board wasted little time in confirming Buttler's promotion. Buttler will take charge of 12 games in July, with T20 and ODI series against India and South Africa. The wicketkeeper-batter is a ferocious striker of the ball. He has played 151 ODI games for England, scoring 4,120 runs at an average of 41.20, including 10 hundreds and 21 fifties. In T20s, he has won 88 caps scoring 2,140 runs with an average of 34.51. Buttler is one of three England cricketers with Dawid Malan and Heather Knight to have scored hundreds in all three formats of the game. I

Rohit Sharma can be relieved from T20I captaincy: Virender Sehwag

Former India opener Virender Sehwag feels current skipper Rohit Sharma could be relieved from captaincy duties from T20s so that the 35-year-old can manage his workload better. Rohit has not been able to feature in all of India's matches since taking over as captain due to injuries and workload management. If the Indian team management has someone else in mind as captain in the T20 format, then I think, Rohit (Sharma) could be relieved and the following can be taken into consideration going forward, Sehwag told PTI in an interview. One, that would allow Rohit to manage his workload and mental fatigue, given his age. "Two, once someone new is appointed as captain in T20s, it would also allow Rohit to take breaks and rejuvenate himself to lead India in both Tests and ODIs, he said in an interaction arranged by Sony Sports, the official broadcaster of the India-England series. However, Sehwag maintained that if the team management sticks with its current policy of having one captain
