The Sports Ministry on Thursday withdrew provisional annual recognition granted to 54 NSFs on the directive of the Delhi High Court, which asked it to maintain status quo till further orders.
The court on Wednesday observed that the ministry didn't comply with its February 7 order and took the decision without informing the court in advance
I'm hoping that in next couple of months' time we should be ready with at least some of the events, says Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju
Athletics, hockey, badminton, boxing and shooting were among the 11 disciplines that were permitted to resume outdoor training following relaxations in the lockdown.
18 Olympic NSFs were asked to respond by May 20 but only seven -- archery, hockey, rowing, squash, volleyball, weightlifting and yachting -- gave feedback before the deadline
However, the athletes at the NIS-Patiala and Sports Authority of India Centre in Bengaluru are yet to resume outdoor training
The weightlifters are currently staying at Sports Authority of India's National Center of Excellence in Patiala
So now those who flout the lockdown have started avoiding main roads and places where people gather and play games
