South Korean government will import 200 million eggs by September

Korean government will import 200 million eggs by next month to stabilise egg prices. It is planning to increase direct sales of imported eggs to customers by supplying more than half to large supermarkets.Hong Nam-ki, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Strategy and Finance, announced the import plan after visiting Daejeon Ojeong-dong Agriculture and Seafood Market and E-mart Dunsan Branch on the 3rd to check consumer prices.The government will significantly increase the volume of imported eggs to 100 million in August and 100 million in September.More than half of imported eggs will be supplied to large retailers such as supermarkets.Previously, imported eggs were mainly supplied to catering companies and processing companies, but now consumers can purchase imported eggs directly.The price of 30 imported eggs of the aT Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation will also be reduced by 1,000 won from 4,000 won to 3,000 won from coming 5th."In order to cut the price of eggs

South Korea registers highest-ever daily rise in Covid-19 cases

South Korea has recorded its highest-ever daily rise in COVID-19 cases for the past day, the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) said in a statement.The country reported 1,896 new coronavirus cases for Tuesday, the KDCA said. The previous record of 1,318 people was set on July 9.Out of the new cases, 1,823 were local and 73 were imported from abroad. In total, 193,427 people were infected in the country, of whom 170,494 people have already been discharged. During the day, four more patients died.The overall death toll reached 2,083. The mortality rate is 1.08 per cent.

E-Mart is reportedly speeding up its acquisition of an additional stake in Starbucks Korea.According to the distribution industry on Monday, Shinsegae Group is planning to purchase an additional 50 per cent stake of Starbucks Korea from Starbucks International, its US headquarters. It is reported that 30 per cent of shares are likely to be acquired by the Singaporean sovereign wealth fund (GIC)."E-Mart is negotiating to acquire a stake held by Starbucks International," a Shinsegae Group's official said. "The details or schedule have not been confirmed."Currently, Starbucks International and E-Mart each hold 50 per cent of Starbucks Korea's shares. South Korea has reported 711 new cases of the coronavirus as infections continued to grow in the greater capital area. It was the third straight day of over 700 and the highest daily jump for a Monday since early January, when the country was enduring its worst wave of the virus.
