Pak, US to hold defence talks in Washington to boost security ties

Pakistan and the US are set to hold defence talks in Washington on Monday to explore various options for ramping up bilateral military and security ties, the foreign office here has announced. The talks that would last from Monday to Thursday will be the second round of the Pakistan-US Mid-Level Defence Dialogue after the first round was held in Pakistan in January 2021, it said in a statement on Sunday. "Pakistan's inter-agency delegation, led by the chief of general staff, will comprise senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Joint Staff Headquarters and three services headquarters. The US multi-agency team will be represented by the office of the undersecretary of defence, it said. Haryana Police beef up security measures across state for Republic Day

Haryana Police have beefed up security measures across the state in the run-up to Republic day. All commissioners and district superintendents of police have been directed to ensure elaborate security cover at all important venues for celebrations and flag-hoisting on Thursday, Director General of Police (DGP) PK Agrawal said. All roads leading to celebration venues are being monitored with 'nakas' and surprise checks. Additional forces have been deployed to deal with any untoward incident, he said on Tuesday. Pakistan makes 'special' security plan for Islamabad amid terror alert

Pakistan Police on Tuesday announced special security measures, including setting up 25 new check-posts, to tighten security in the federal capital here after several countries, including the US, UK, Saudi Arabia and Australia asked their citizens to restrict their movement, warning of a possible terror threat. CAG says delay in measures to strengthen security of coastal naval assets

An approval accorded by the Cabinet Committee on Security in February 2009 to beef up security of all coastal and offshore naval assets within a period of three years in the aftermath of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks was "diluted" due to delays in creating the enabling framework, national auditor CAG has said.
