Cyrus Mistry death: Anahita Pandole had multiple challans for over-speeding

Gynaecologist Dr Anahita Pandole, who was booked on the charge of rash driving that resulted into the death of industrialist Cyrus Mistry, has a history of traffic rules violation and was issued challans for over-speeding on several occasions since 2020, a police official said on Thursday. The police in Palghar district of Maharashtra, who are investigating the Mistry car accident case, have found this during their investigation. Former Tata Sons chairman Mistry (54) and his friend Jehangir Pandole were killed after the Mercedes-Benz car hit the railing of the Surya river bridge in Palghar district on September 4 this year. Dr Anahita, who was at the wheel, and her husband Darius suffered serious injuries in the accident. All of them were returning to Mumbai from Ahmedabad. 1 dead, 50 injured in bus-truck collision on Haryana's Jind-Rohtak highway

A truck driver died and 50 passengers, including children, were injured when a roadways bus collided head-on with the heavy goods vehicle near a hotel on the Jind-Rohtak national highway here, police said on Saturday. The injured were taken to a primary health centre in Julana, where the doctors referred 20 critically injured passengers to PGIMS, Rohtak for better treatment. On receiving information about the incident, the District Magistrate and other officials also reached the spot and took stock of the incident. Julana police station is investigating the matter. According to police, the roadways bus had left for Gurgaon on Saturday morning from Jind and collided head-on with the truck as soon as it reached Haveli Hotel on Jind-Rohtak National Highway near Julana.

Pune accident: Driver arrested; probe suggests engine switched off on slope

City police on Monday arrested the driver of the truck, a day after it hit several vehicles on a Mumbai-Bengaluru highway stretch in Pune and caused a pile-up, while the preliminary investigation suggested the driver had switched off the engine on a bridge slope resulting in the accident, officials said. Police also arrested the driver's assistant from Pimpri Chinchwad township, an official said. 8 hospitalised, 24 vehicles damaged in mega pile-up on highway near Pune

At least 24 vehicles were damaged after a truck lost control on the downward slope of a bridge on the Mumbai-Bengaluru highway late Sunday evening, in which several persons suffered injuries with eight of them being hospitalised, a police official said. The accident occurred on Navale bridge to suspected brake failure of the truck when it was moving towards Pune, he said. Ten to 15 people received minor injuries in the incident and they were given first aid on the spot. However, six to eight others were shifted to two hospitals for treatment, the official said. "The truck hit some vehicles on the road due to suspected brake failure and at least 24 vehicles, including the truck, suffered damages in the incident. As many as 43 people including a boy suffered injuries after a bus carrying Sabarimala pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh met with an accident and overturned near Laha in this district on Saturday. Two months after former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry died in a car accident, police in Maharashtra's Palghar district on Saturday registered a case against Dr Anahita Pandole for alleged rash driving. Darius Pandole, who survived the car accident in which industrialist Cyrus Mistry died, told the police that his wife Dr Anahita who was driving the Mercedes-Benz car, could not merge the vehicle into the second lane from the third lane of the road that turned narrow near the Surya river bridge in Maharashtra's Palghar, an official said. At least 30 people were injured in two separate bus accidents in Odisha's Balasore district on Thursday, police said. 33 killed as bus carrying marriage party falls into gorge in Uttarakhand

At least 25 people were killed and 20 others injured when a bus carrying 45-50 members of a marriage party fell into a gorge in Uttarakhand's Pauri Garhwal district, police said on Wednesday. The bus was on its way to Kanda village in Bironkhal from Laldhang town in Haridwar when it fell into a 500-metre gorge near Simri bend at around 7 pm on Tuesday, they said. Rescue operations were carried out throughout the night, police said, adding four bodies have been retrieved so far. Twenty people injured in the accident were pulled out of the mangled remains of the bus and rushed to hospitals in Bironkhal, Rikhnikhal and Kotdwar, police said. Car hits multiple vehicles on Bandra-Worli Sea Link; 5 killed, 8 injured

Five people were killed and eight others injured after a speeding car rammed into three other stationary cars and an ambulance on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai on Wednesday, police said. The accident took place around 3 am between pole numbers 76 and 78 on the south-bound stretch of the sea link bridge, which connects Bandra in western suburbs to Worli in south Mumbai. A car initially hit a divider on the bridge and an ambulance was rushed to the spot for assistance. The occupants of two other cars also halted their vehicles to provide help, they said. At that time, another car coming from behind rammed into three stationary cars and the ambulance, a senior police official said. 26 killed, many injured as tractor-trolley falls into pond in UP's Kanpur

At least 26 people were killed and several critically injured when a tractor-trolley overturned and fell into a pond near a village in Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, District Magistrate Vishak G Ayyar said. Most of the victims were women and children, the DM said, adding that the toll is likely to go up.
