Mughal Gardens renamed 'Amrit Udyan', to open for public from Tuesday

Rashtrapati Bhavan's famed Mughal Gardens will now be known as 'Amrit Udyan', an official statement issued on Saturday said. The resplendent gardens are open to the public once a year and people can visit from January 31 this time. President Droupadi Murmu will grace the opening of the gardens of Rashtrapati Bhavan - Udyan Utsav 2023 - on Sunday, the statement said. "On the occasion of the celebrations of 75 years of Independence as Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav', the President of India is pleased to give a common name to the Rashtrapati Bhavan gardens as Amrit Udyan'," Navika Gupta, Deputy Press Secretary to the President, said in the statement. The government had last year renamed Delhi's iconic Rajpath as Kartavya Path. The renaming of the stretch and other institutions is in line with the Centre's effort to remove any trace of colonial mindset, it has maintained. No change of guard ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan between Jan 14 and 28

There will be no change of guard ceremony between January 14 and 28 due to the rehearsals of Republic Day parade and the Beating Retreat ceremony, according to an officials statement. The change of guard ceremony is a military tradition that is held every week to enable a fresh group of the President's Bodyguards to take charge. "The change of guard ceremony will not take place between January 14 and 28, 2023 (i.e. January 14, 21 and 28) due to rehearsals of Republic Day parade and Beating Retreat ceremony," said the statement issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Govt decides to rename Rajpath in Delhi as 'Kartavyapath': Report

The government has decided to rename the historic Rajpath in the national capital as 'Kartavyapath', sources said on Monday. The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has convened a special meeting on September 7 and the proposal will be placed before the council. NDMC has convened a special meeting on 7th September with the objective of renaming Rajpath and Central Vista lawns as Kartavyapath," sources said. "The entire road and area from the Netaji statue at India Gate to the Rashtrapati Bhavan will be known as Kartavyapath," they added. Rajpath was known as Kingsway during British Rule.

President Kovind undergoes cardiac bypass surgery: Rashtrapati Bhavan

President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday underwent a cardiac bypass surgery at the AIIMS here, a statement issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan said. The surgery was successful and his condition is stable, it said. "The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind underwent cardiac bypass surgery today morning (March 30, 2021) at AIIMS, New Delhi. Surgery was successful. He is stable and is being closely monitored by a team of senior doctors," the statement said. The president was on Saturday shifted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Kovind, 75, had undergone a health check-up at the Army Hospital (R&R) here following chest discomfort on Friday morning.
