Havells to invest Rs 130 cr to expand washing machine production capacity

Electrical goods and appliance maker Havells on Wednesday said it is planning to expand washing machine production capacity at its Rajasthan's Ghiloth plant, where it will invest Rs 130 crore. This expansion would be financed through internal accruals, said Havells in a regulatory filing. The Ghiloth plant already has the capacity to roll out 3 lakh units per annum and the company plans to add an additional capacity of 3.8 lakh units per annum. The proposed capacity addition would be done by June 30, 2023, it added. Established in 2018, Havells Ghiloth is spread over 2,02,343 square metres and primarily manufactures air conditioners under the brand Lloyd. On Wednesday, Havells said it is now beginning to set up a cable manufacturing unit at Tumakuru in Karnataka for a proposed annual capacity of 3,48,000 kilometer with an estimated investment of Rs 300 crore. Rajasthan okays formation of audit authority to assess performance of depts

The Rajasthan Cabinet on Saturday cleared a proposal to form an audit authority that will assess the performance of government departments and agencies implementing welfare schemes. The Cabinet also gave approval to the Rajasthan Handicrafts Policy-2022 besides the new rules for appointment of dependents of martyrs. According to a release, the Cabinet approved the formation of the Rajasthan Social and Performance Audit Authority to ensure transparency, public participation and quality services. "The performance of government departments and agencies implementing schemes/programmes will be assessed. Benefits of schemes will reach beneficiaries more easily, conveniently and in a time-bound manner," the release said. Doctors, engineers, architects, economists, professors, information technology specialists and other experts will be part of the authority. Gehlot conducts aerial survey of flood affected areas in Rajasthan district

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday conducted an aerial survey of flood affected villages of Dholpur district. He visited about a dozen villages of Sarmathura, Bari and Rajkheda areas and inquired about the rescue and relief operations. He directed the officers to provide prompt assistance to the affected after assessing the damage caused to public and private properties, crops and animals at the earliest, an official statement said. Tourism Minister Vishvendra Singh also took stock of the situation in the flood affected areas by helicopter along with the Chief Minister. Heavy rains trigger flood-like situation in Rajasthan's Kota, nearby areas

Extremely heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours has created flood-like situation in parts of Rajasthan's Kota and nearby areas, officials said on Monday. Low-lying areas have submerged under water owing to rainfall and water released from the barrage in Kota, they said. About 2.76 lakh cusec water has been released from the barrage so far, officials added. According to the Meteorological department, extremely heavy rainfall was recorded in isolated areas in Kota and Jhalawar district during the 24-hour period ending 8.30 am on Monday. Dag in Jhalawar recorded the highest 234 mm rainfall followed by 224 mm in Kota city during this period, officials said. Inflow of water increased in Kota barrage on Chambal river due to rainfall in the catchment area of Rana Pratap Sagar dam (Chittorgarh) and Jawahar Sagar dam (Kota), an official of the Kota district administration said. The Rajasthan State Commission for Protection of Child Rights is yet to ascertain whether the death of the nine-year-old Dalit boy in Jalore district was a result of caste-based discrimination, its member said on Saturday. Rajasthan: Six killed, 20 hurt in Pali road accident; PM expresses grief

Six people were killed and over 20 injured in a road accident in Rajasthan's Pali district on Friday night, police said. Sumerpur police station incharge Rameshwar Bhati said a tractor-trailer carrying pilgrims and a truck collided in the district. The pilgrims were returning from Jaisalmer's Ramdevra, where a temple of folk deity Baba Ramdev is located. He said six people died in the accident while more than 20 were injured. The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital. The Prime Minister's Office in a tweet said PM Narendra Modi expressed grief over the incident. "The accident in Pali, Rajasthan is saddening. In this hour of grief, my thoughts are with the bereaved families. I pray for a speedy recovery of those injured," the PM said.

Rajasthan accounted for highest share in cost of projects in FY22: RBI

Rajasthan accounted for the highest share in the total cost of projects sanctioned by banks and financial institutions in 2021-22, retaining the top place for two consecutive years, as per an article published in RBI bulletin. Rajasthan was followed by Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. "State-wise data reveals that during 2021-22, more than half (56.4 per cent) of the projects were taken up in five states, viz., Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu," said the article titled 'Private Corporate Investment: Growth in 2021-22 and Outlook for 2022-23'. The share of these five states increased significantly from an average share of 40.7 per cent during the period between 2012-13 and 2019-20 to more than 50 per cent during the last two years.
