The police on Tuesday issued a traffic advisory in view of closure of carriageways of Chirag Delhi flyover on Outer Ring Road for 50 days from March 12 owing to repair work being undertaken by the Public Works Department. The repair work of each carriageway will take 25 days and it will be closed for the traffic while the other carriageway will remain operational, police said. According to the traffic advisory, the repair of the carriageway from Nehru Place to IIT Delhi Flyover will be taken up first and the repair of the carriageway from IIT Delhi Flyover to Nehru Place will be taken up thereafter. "The closure of carriageway may increase the volume of traffic on the road and cause inconvenience to the general public. "The commuters heading to railway stations, airport, hospitals etc. are advised to plan their departure in advance and take alternate routes to avoid delays," it said. The Delhi High Court has directed the Income Tax Department to identify posts which can be reserved for persons with disabilities and consequential orders granting promotion to two differently-abled Income Tax Inspectors. The high court passed the judgment while setting aside a 2011 verdict of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) in view of a Supreme Court decision. The high court said that in a 2020 verdict, a bench of three judges of the Supreme Court held that people with disabilities, who are entitled to benefit under the PwD Act, would be entitled to reservation even in matters of reservation by promotion. In view of the above, the judgment impugned herein, which has been passed prior to the judgment of the apex court in Siddaraju (in 2020), cannot be sustained and has necessarily to be set aside. The vigilance directorate has recommended a probe by a "specialised agency" into alleged irregularities in the construction of classrooms for Delhi government schools, claiming it involved a "scam of Rs 1,300 crore", official sources said on Friday. A report of the Delhi government's vigilance directorate recommending the probe has been submitted to the chief secretary, they said. The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), in a report dated February 17, 2020, highlighted "glaring irregularities" in the construction of over 2,400 classrooms in Delhi government schools by the Public Works Department (PWD). The CVC had sent the report to the Delhi government's vigilance directorate seeking its comments on the matter in February 2020. "The directorate however kept sitting over the report for two-and-half years until LG V K Saxena asked the chief secretary to inquire into the delay in August this year and submit a report," a source said. Public Works Department (PWD) has identified around 10,000 spots across the national capital for installation of small 'cell sites' or small towers for roll out of 5G network in the city, official sources said on Friday. Government departments including the PWD will provide infrastructure related support to telecom companies in installation of these small towers, they said. The locations were identified in a PWD survey and the data has been submitted to a Delhi government enterprise Geospatial Delhi Limited (GSDL). Sources said that locations where 5G small cell sites can be set up include large sign boards and street light poles on arterial roads and high-mast lights. "We have included poles of street lights, high-mast lights and large sign boards situated at prominent and busy road stretches, as potential sites where small cell sites or small towers of 5G network can be set up to improve connectivity.
