Maruti Suzuki total sales surge 12% to 172,535 units in January

The country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India on Wednesday reported a 12 per cent increase in total sales at 1,72,535 units in January. The company had sold a total of 1,54,379 units in the year-ago period, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) said in a statement. Total domestic passenger vehicle sales were at 1,55,142 units as compared to 1,36,442 units in the corresponding period previous year, a growth of 14 per cent, it added. Maruti Suzuki India Senior Executive Officer Marketing & Sales Shashank Srivastava said the industry began with a low network stock because of high retails in December. "Therefore, the depleted inventory resulted in slightly muted retails, taking up the network stock to 1.84 lakh units. On the demand side, the enquiries and bookings have been steady despite price hikes done by several OEMs," he noted. Domestic passenger vehicles sales up 23% to record of 3.79 mn units in 2022

Domestic passenger vehicles sales rose by 23 per cent to a record of 37.93 lakh units in 2022 led by the likes of Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Tata Motors as the companies rode on easing of pandemic related challenges and semiconductor shortages to cash in on pent up demand, specially for SUVs. Other manufacturers like Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Skoda India also reported record sales in 2022. "The industry wholesales in January to December 2022 were just short of 38 lakh units. It was 37.93 lakh units against 30.82 lakh in 2021, which is a growth of 23 per cent," Maruti Suzuki India Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales Shashank Srivastava told reporters in a virtual conference. He further said the 2022 wholesales are "the highest ever in the industry for a calendar year" and the last highest was in 2018 which was 33.3 lakh units. Passenger vehicle wholesales rise 28 per cent in Nov on robust demand

Passenger vehicle wholesales in India rose 28 per cent year-on-year in November, aided by robust demand for both utility vehicles and cars, industry body Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers said on Tuesday. Overall passenger vehicles dispatched from companies to dealers stood at 2,76,231 units last month as compared to 2,15,626 units in November 2021. Utility vehicle wholesales rose 32 per cent to 1,38,780 units in November against 1,05,091 units in the year-ago period. Similarly, passenger car dispatches increased 29 per cent to 1,30,142 units from 1,00,906 units in November 2021. Van sales, however, dropped to 7,309 units last month from 9,629 units in November 2021. "Positive consumer and business sentiments have reflected in the better sales in the month of November 2022, compared to the previous year," Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) President Vinod Aggarwal said in a statement. M&M reports 60% rise in domestic passenger vehicle sales at 32,298 units

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd on Tuesday reported a 60 per cent rise in domestic passenger vehicle sales at 32,298 units in October 2022. The company had sold 20,130 units in the same month last year, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) said in a statement. Utility vehicle sales were at 32,226 units, as against 20,034 units in the year-ago month, a growth of 61 per cent, it added. However, car and van sales were down 25 per cent at 72 units, from 96 units in October 2021. "Our sales volume continued to grow in October on the back of strong festive demand," M&M President, Automotive Division Veejay Nakra said. M&M said in the commercial vehicles segment, it sold 20,980 units in October 2022. Total tractor sales were higher by 11 per cent at 51,994 units last month as compared to 47,017 units in October 2021. Domestic tractor sales were at 50,539 units as against 45,420 units in the same month last year, a growth of 11 per cent, while exports were down 9 per cent at 1,455 units as .

Passenger vehicle wholesales surge 92% in Sep on robust festive demand

Riding on the back of strong festive season demand, passenger vehicle wholesales in India increased 92 per cent to 3,07,389 units last month, as compared to the same month last year, auto industry body Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers said on Thursday. Passenger vehicle (PV) dispatches from factories to dealerships in September 2021 stood at 1,60,212 units. As per the latest data by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), two-wheeler sales also rose 13 per cent to 17,35,199 units, as compared to 15,37,604 vehicles in September 2021. Motorcycle sales rose 18 per cent to 11,14,667 units, as against 9,48,161 units in September 2021. Scooter sales were up 9 per cent to 5,72,919 units, from 5,27,779 vehicles a year ago. In the September quarter, PV sales increased by 38 per cent to 10,26,309 units, as against 7,41,442 units in the similar period of the last fiscal.
