United States donates 664,560 doses of Pfizer vaccines to Nepal

The United States has donated 664,560 new doses of Pfizer vaccine to Nepal to help it intensify its fight against the coronavirus, the US Embassy said here on Friday. The new doses of Pfizer vaccine given to Nepal free of cost is in addition to the doses the US had provided early this year when the cases of coronavirus were constantly on a rise. "The US government has donated an additional 664,560 doses of Pfizer vaccine to Nepal government to fight COVID-19. These highly effective life-saving vaccines for ages 12 and older add to the 100,620 doses of Pfizer vaccines and 1.535 million single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccines the United States gifted to Nepal earlier this year," the US Embassy in Kathmandu said in a statement. Indian firms take part in exhibition in Nepal to promote bilateral trade

Around 50 Indian companies are taking part in a three-day business exhibition in Nepal, aimed to promote Brand India and enhance bilateral trade and investment by creating awareness about trade opportunities available on both sides. Nepal to sell surplus electricity in India's energy exchange market

Nepal will sell its surplus electricity to India at a competitive rate after New Delhi allowed the neighbouring country to trade its power in the Indian power exchange market, according to media reports on Wednesday. The Energy Exchange under India's Power Ministry on Monday granted permission to Nepal after persistent lobbying from Kathmandu, as Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is now in a position to sell its surplus energy, according to a report in The Kathmandu Post. In the first phase, 39MW power, including 24MW produced by NEA-owned Trishuli hydropower and 15MW Devighat power house, has been permitted for trading in Indian Energy Exchange. Both projects were developed with India's assistance.
