Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya on Saturday allocated the portfolio of Sports and Youth Affairs to Khattar in addition to his existing portfolios with immediate effect, according to an official notification. "The Governor of Haryana, on the advice of the Chief Minister...is pleased to allocate, with immediate effect, the portfolio of Sports and Youth Affairs to Shri Manohar Lal, Chief Minister, Haryana, in addition to his existing portfolios," the notification said. A bomb disposal squad was rushed to the spot after a live bomb was found a few hundred metres away from the helipad used by Punjab and Haryana chief ministers here on Monday, police said. The shell was found in the fields on the Nayagaon-Kansal road, which is about one kilometre away from the helipad and about two kilometres from the official residences of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his Haryana counterpart Manohar Lal Khattar, they said. An official of the disaster management department who reached the spot told reporters that the police control room received a message that a bomb-like object had been seen near the Kansal and Nayagaon T-point. "When we checked it and found that it was a live shell," he said, adding the area has been sealed. "It is a matter of investigation how this shell reached the spot," the official said. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Manohar Lal Khattar on Wednesday accused Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda of making a "wrong statement" on the state's outstanding debt. Haryana has a debt of more than Rs 415,000 crore while the amount of debt on Haryana in 2021-22 has been shown at Rs 239,000 crore in the Comptroller Accountant General report, the Opposition leader had said. Alleging that Hooda's statement "was beyond facts", Khattar said a debt of Rs 227,697 crore was recorded in the Haryana government's account books. If the difference of this amount is also taken out, then only a difference of Rs 12,000 crore is visible -- the state does not have a debt of Rs 415,000 crore in any respect, Khattar said on the concluding day of the Haryana assembly's three-day Winter Session. The Haryana Cabinet on Thursday approved a new AatmaNirbhar Textile Policy 2022-25, which aims to attract investment worth Rs 4,000 crore and generate 20,0000 new jobs in the state. A decision in this regard was taken in the meeting of the council of ministers held under the chairmanship of chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar here, said an official statement. The new textile policy will supersede the previous Haryana Textile Policy 2019 and it aims to promote value-added textile activities with suitable policy interventions to harness the potential of the entire textile value chain in the state, it said. The Haryana government on Wednesday reduced the bond policy amount from Rs 40 lakh to Rs 30 lakh and cut down the duration of compulsory government service from seven to five years, but the move failed to cut ice with MBBS students. The students, who have been protesting against the bond policy for nearly a month, rejected the changes, which were announced by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, and said that their agitation will continue. Facing criticism from the Opposition over the bond policy, Khattar took charge on Wednesday and held a four-hour meeting with the representatives of the protesting students. Announcing the changes after the meeting, the chief minister said the government has reduced the duration of compulsory government service under the bond policy from seven years to five years.
