Automaker Kia India aims to garner 40 per cent of its overall sales this year from cars with an intelligent manual transmission (iMT) as demand for automatic vehicles continues to grow in the domestic market, according to a senior company official. The automaker is replacing manual transmission with intelligent manual transmission (iMT) in turbo petrol and diesel trims of Seltos, Carens and Sonet. The entry-level trims of the models, which come with a 1.5-litre petrol engine, would however continue to feature the manual transmission in order to cater to the price-conscious customer. The iMT trims come with a gear shift lever but no clutch thus enhancing ease of driving especially in city conditions. It also gives the buyers an option to shift from automatic to manual mode. Automaker Kia India on Wednesday reported a 36 per cent year-on-year increase in domestic wholesales at 24,600 units in February. The company had sold 18,121 units in the year-ago period. "With continued support from our esteemed customers, Kia has recorded another successful sales run in the month of February," Kia India National Head Sales & Marketing Hardeep Singh Brar said in a statement. Achieving 35.8 per cent growth against the industry's growth of 10 per cent shows the love and confidence the Indian consumers have for the brand, he added.
Automaker Kia India on Wednesday said its sales grew 48 per cent at 28,634 units in January. The company's sales stood at 19,319 units in the year-ago period. The growth was driven by Seltos and Sonet models, as their sales stood at 10,470 and 9,261 units, respectively, during the reported month, followed by Carens with 7,900 units and Carnival with 1,003 units sold domestically, Kia India said in a statement. The company also said it recorded the highest-ever monthly sales of Carens. "We have witnessed an encouraging start to CY2023 with sales of 28,634 units in January. It reflects a strong demand for our products. The company said its certified pre-owned car business 'Kia CPO' intends to provide a new age experience to customers, in line with new car buying experience, that will allow them to sell, buy or exchange pre-owned cars, backed by ownership transfers and customised finance options. "With Kia CPO, we want to rewrite the rules of the game for the pre-owned car market. Currently, Indian customers have limited access to certified and verified information when it comes to the pre-owned car segment and we intend to change this notion with our entry into the business," Kia India Chief Sales Officer Myung-sik Sohn said in a statement. Kia India is looking to bring in more EV6 units into the country in order to cater to the pending bookings, the automaker said on Thursday. The company said it has delivered 200 units of the EV6, which comes as a completely built unit (CBU), to customers till date. This number is already twice the initially planned 100 units for the entire year, the South Korean automaker said in a statement. "Now, the company is planning to further increase the total allocation of EV6 in 2022 and complete most of the pending deliveries within this year," it added. The company had launched EV6 in the country in June this year, and the deliveries to customers began last month. "At the launch of EV6, amid the very positive response received, we had promised our customers to bring in more units of the EV6, over and above the initially allotted 100 units for 2022. Going forward, our focus will be on completing the deliveries of all the existing and new bookings at the earliest," Kia India Chief Sales .
