Govt earned Rs 254 cr from disposing scrap, eased 588 rules: Jitendra Singh

The Centre has earned Rs 254.21 crore from scrap disposal besides easing of 588 rules during the ongoing special cleanliness campaign, Union minister Jitendra Singh said on Tuesday. He said 40 lakh files have been reviewed and 37.19 lakh square feet of space freed so far. Singh, the Minister of State for Personnel, said tremendous enthusiasm is being witnessed in ministries/department for institutionalising Swachhata and minimising pendency. Revenue of Rs 254.21 crore has been earned so far from the disposal of scrap. A total of 588 rules have been eased, he said while talking to media at his official residence here. Singh said the campaign has inculcated a behavioural change and led to innovation in governance. He said there were 68,363 Swachhata campaign sites and 40.52 lakh files (including e-files and physical files) were reviewed. Jitendra reviews preparations for swachhta campaign to be launched Oct 2

Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Friday reviewed the preparations for the swachhata campaign 2.0 and a special campaign for disposal of pending matters to be conducted by the central government from October 2. The campaign involves freeing of office spaces by clearing pending matters and disposal of physical files and other junk. The special campaign 2022 is expected to cover outstation post offices, overseas mission/posts, railway stations, and other public offices during the month-long campaign, a statement issued by the Personnel Ministry said. According to the statement, the swachhata campaign '21 was conducted at 6,154 sites. During the campaign, 21.9 lakh files were weeded out, 12.01 lakh sq feet of space was cleared, and Rs 62 crore in revenue was earned through disposing of scrap, it said. Junkyards in ministries have been turned into courtyard, cafeteria, wellness centre or parking space, it said.

Digitisation or e-office has been implemented in all central government departments, the Lok Sabha was informed on Wednesday. In addition, several departments like the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Ministry of Finance, Department of Justice, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, and Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances, provide facility to citizens to submit their applications and grievances at portals, Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh told the House in a written reply.
