Ammunition, explosive material recovered from hideout in J-K's Poonch

Security forces on Thursday busted a hideout and recovered ammunition and explosive material in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, sources said. A team of police, assisted by the Army, launched a search operation in the Naka Manjari area. It busted a hideout and recovered ammunition and explosive material, they said. Four AK rifle magazines with ammunition, two grenades, some explosive material, one binocular and other material were recovered, the sources said.

Terror has no place in civilized society: Kharge on Rajouri attacks

Terrorism has no place in a civilised society, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said on Tuesday while expressing his anguish at the two back to back terror attacks in Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir in which six people were killed. Among the six killed in the attacks in a village in Rajouri on Sunday and Monday were two children. "Extremely pained by the two terror attacks in Rajouri, Jammu & Kashmir, in which 6 precious lives including two children have been lost, and 15 people have been injured. J-K BJP pres, former dep CM visits slain Kashmiri pandit's house in Jammu

Jammu and Kashmir BJP president Ravinder Raina along with his party colleague and former deputy chief minister Kavinder Gupta on Tuesday visited the house of slain Kashmiri pandit Puran Krishan Bhat here to express their condolences with the family, a party spokesman said. Bhat was shot dead by terrorists outside his ancestral house in Shopian district of south Kashmir on Saturday. Raina and Gupta visited the house of the slain Bhat at Muthi on the outskirts of Jammu and expressed their condolences with the bereaved family, the spokesman said. He said Raina assured support to the victim's family and also said that justice will be done with them.

Civilians injured as terrorists hurl low-intensity grenades in Srinagar

Several civilians were injured in a grenade blast by terrorists in Srinagar on Sunday.According to Srinagar Police, the incident occurred at Nishat area where terrorists hurled grenade causing a low-intensity blast. Several people received minor injuries. All were given first aid and discharged from the hospital.Police have registered a case and the hunt is underway to nab the terrorists.Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday said they averted a major terror incident by recovering an improvised explosive device (IED) weighing about 10-12 kilograms in Pulwama district.The IED was recovered by security forces in the Beihgund area of Tral in the south Kashmir district."On a specific input of police, an IED, approx 10-12 kg has been recovered in Beihgund area of Tral. Police and Army are on the job to destroy it. A major terror incident was averted," Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.

Constable succumbs to injuries; death toll in J&K terror attack rises to 3

The death toll in the terrorist attack on a police bus in Jammu and Kashmir rose to three on Tuesday after an injured constable succumbed to injuries, officials said. Constable Rameez Ahmad of the 9th Battalion, Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police, succumbed to injuries at the Army's 92 Base hospital, the officials said. Little known outfit Kashmir Tigers, believed to be the front of Jaish-e-Mohammad, carried out the attack on the police bus at Zewan on the outskirts of Srinagar city on Monday. Assistant Sub Inspector Ghulam Hassan and Constable Shafeeq Ali were killed while 12 others including Rameez sustained injuries. The attack was carried out on the 20th anniversary of the attack on the Parliament building in the national capital by Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit.
