The civic body of Madhya Pradesh's Indore, which has been ranked the country's cleanest city for the past six years in the Centre's Swachh Survekshan initiative, on Monday launched its 'No Thu Thu' campaign to curb spitting in public. In the first phase, people will be advised against spitting gutkha and paan etc in public, while the second phase will see fines being imposed, Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava, who launched the campaign, said. The mayor launched the campaign from Mhow Naka intersection here by cleaning a road divider. "Indore is the leader in cleanliness across the country, but the habit of spitting paan-gutkha on the roads and their dividers as well as at intersections and other public places still exists. This results in red spots at public places," he said.

Home-grown FMCG major Dabur on Wednesday said it will invest Rs 325.87 crore in its Indore plant. The company will manufacture red toothpaste and one-litre juice packs, and increase the production capacity of portion packs of its range of juices. "The Board of Directors have approved the Capital Expenditure of Rs 325.87 crore for its Indore Project in Madhya Pradesh," the company said in a regulator filing. The work for capacity addition would be completed in the next 1.5 years, and production would start in March 2024, the FMCG firm said. This capex would be financed through internal accruals, Dabur added. Earlier this year, during an investors' call, Dabur said it has planned a capex of Rs 400 crore to Rs 450 crore in FY23 to expand its manufacturing capacity. Last year, Dabur India announced an investment of Rs 550 crore at its Indore plant.
A puja material selling shop ad measuring just 69.50 square feet and located in the famous Khajrana Ganesh Temple complex in Indore city has attracted a whopping bid of Rs 1.72 crore for a 30-year-lease, way above the base price of Rs 30 lakh, an official of the shrine said on Wednesday. This makes it one of the highest rates offered for a commercial property in the country, he said. Participating in the tendering process for the property, a local resident offered to pay Rs 1.72 crore for the shop '1-A', the highest bid received for the outlet, for taking it on lease for a period of 30 years, the official said. The temple is the owner of the shop and its actual area is 69.50 square feet, which means the man has paid Rs 2.47 lakh per square foot, he said.
