The Indian Army bravely prevented the Chinese PLA's attempts to unilaterally change the status in the Yangtse area of Arunachal Pradesh's Tawang sector on December 9 and confronted it with firmness, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Tuesday. An India Army truck caught fire about 60 km from Rajasthan's Udaipur, ostensibly due to a technical malfunction, an official said on Friday. The truck was part of a five-vehicle convoy en route to the military station in Udaipur. A Quick Reaction Team of the Army swung into action and cordoned off the vehicle, stopping traffic on the highway, Defence Spokesperson Amitabh Sharma said. There was no loss of personnel or life. The Army personnel's prompt reaction also ensured no loss to public property or private vehicles, he said. Sharma added that the civil administration had also assisted with its resources for traffic management. The Army has ordered an internal inquiry to ascertain the facts, he said.
The Indian Army carried out one of the largest field training exercises involving all entities of warfighting on the western borders of Rajasthan. In a major technology push, Indian Army has envisioned construction of "permanent defences" along the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh using cutting-edge 3D printing technology, a move that will save time and improve its defence preparedness, sources said on Tuesday. 3D printing technology uses complex software and robotic unit that helps in creating a structure through multiple stages from a digital model. These 3D-printed permanent defences can withstand a direct fire by a T-90 tank from about 100 metres, they said.
