Israel on Tuesday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his "moving tribute" to former president and "key architect of India-Israel friendship" Shimon Peres on his death anniversary. Peres, a Nobel laureate, died on September 28, 2016. "Thank you #India's PM @narendramodi for this moving tribute to the late Shimon Peres, Israel's 9th President & a key architect of India-Israel friendship," Israeli foreign ministry said in a tweet. Peres as minister for regional cooperation had visited India twice, in August 2000 and January 2001. He visited India for the third time in January, 2002 as deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs.
