IAF chopper crash: Politicians pray for well-being of General Rawat, others

Leaders across the political spectrum wished for the well-being of Chief of Defence Staff Bipin Rawat as an Indian Air Force helicopter with him on board crashed on Wednesday near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu. At least four people were killed in the mishap. However, there was no immediate information on the condition of Gen Rawat. Reacting to the accident, several politicians, including senior ministers, wished for the well-being and safety of Rawat and others on board. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi tweeted, "Hoping for the safety of CDS General Bipin Rawat, his wife and others on board the chopper. Prayers for speedy recovery." Union minister Nitin Gadkari said he was shocked to hear about the tragic crash of helicopter. "I pray for everyone's safety, wellbeing," he tweeted. Civil Aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said he was distressed to hear the news of crash of an Army helicopter carrying CDS Rawat and other senior Army officials. "Praying for their safety & well-being," he said

Concerned ministry to share info on chopper crash at appropriate time: Govt

Union I&B Minister Anurag Thakur on Wednesday said information about the helicopter accident in Coonoor in Tamil Nadu will be shared by the ministry concerned at an appropriate time. The entire information about the accident that has taken place will be shared by the concerned ministry at an appropriate time, Thakur told reporters when asked about the helicopter crash involving Chief of Defence Staff Bipin Rawat. An Indian Air Force helicopter with Rawat on board crashed on Wednesday near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu, the IAF said. There was no immediate information on the condition of Rawat.

Chopper crashes in Maharashtra's Jalgaon district; 1 dead, another injured

One occupant was killed and another injured as a helicopter crashed on Friday evening in Jalgaon district of north Maharashtra, a police official said. The incident took place near Wardi village in the district's Chopda area, which is part of the Satpura mountain ranges, and information was received by authorities around 5:15 pm, he said. "One occupant was declared dead on arrival by hospital authorities while the second person has sustained injuries," he said. One of the occupants was a woman but it was not yet clear who was piloting the helicopter, he said.
