As procurement of various Kharif crops including paddy will begin in Haryana from October 1, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday evening chaired a high-level meeting. In the meeting, the Chief Minister was apprised by the officials that for this season government aims to procure around 55 lakh metric tonne of paddy. The procurement of Kharif crops will be done at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) as announced by the Government of India, said Khattar. The MSP of Rs 2,040 per quintal has been fixed for Paddy (common), Rs 2,060 per quintal for paddy (Grade-A), and Rs 2,350 per quintal for bajra. During the Kharif marketing season 2022-23, crops like paddy, bajra, maize, moong, sunflower, groundnut, til, arhar and urad, etc. will be procured. Haryana will develop the world's largest jungle safari park in the Aravalli range, the state government said in a statement on Thursday. The 10,000-acre safari park will cover Gurugram and Nuh districts. "This project will be the largest such project in the world," it said. At present, Sharjah is home to the largest curated safari park outside Africa. Opened in February 2022, the Sharjah Safari covers an area of about 2,000 acres. "The proposed Aravalli park would be five times more this size and it would include a large herpetarium (a zoological exhibition space for reptiles and amphibians), aviary/bird park, four zones for big cats, a large area for herbivores, an area for exotic animal birds, an underwater world, nature trails, visitors, tourism zones, botanical gardens, biomes, equatorial, tropical, coastal, desert, etc," the government said in the statement. Bus stands equipped with all modern facilities will be built for the convenience of the passengers at six locations in Haryana, state Transport Minister Mool Chand Sharma has said. The new bus stands will come up at Rewari, Pipli, Barwala, Kanina ,Guhla Cheeka and Kherki Daula. Also, tenders have been floated to buy 1,000 buses, Sharma said while presiding a review meeting with the officers of the department on Wednesday. He said the foundation stone for the new bus stands will be laid soon. The minister said in order to provide better services to citizens, e-ticketing on 60 routes in the state has been started on a trial basis. It would be implement on other routes soon, he said. The Transport Minister said the department has floated tenders for the purchase of 1,000 buses, which will be finalized soon. Apart from this, 100 electric buses will also be available to the department within the next two months, the minister said.

Farmers on Saturday lifted their over 20-hour blockade of the National Highway-44 at Shahabad here after the government assured them of increasing the ceiling on per acre yield for procuring crops at Minimum Support Price (MSP). Farmers under Haryana Bhartiya Kisan Union (Chaduni) had on Friday blocked the national highway connecting Delhi and Chandigarh, demanding the government to immediately begin paddy procurement. The procurement of Kharif crops, including paddy, in Haryana will start from October 1. Haryana BKU (Chaduni) chief Gurnam Singh Chaduni said the decision to end the stir was taken after the government agreed to consider procuring 30 quintals of paddy per acre instead of the earlier 22 quintals. "It was decided that the average yield of 30 quintals per acre will be considered for procurement at MSP in the main paddy yielding districts and 28 quintals per acre in other paddy districts," an official said. A group of farmers on Friday blocked the national highway near Shahabad in Haryana's Kurukshetra district demanding that the government immediately begin paddy procurement. The procurement of Kharif crops, including paddy, in Haryana will start from October 1. Some protesting farmers even tried to remove police barricades on the road. The protest was led by Haryana BKU (Chaduni) chief Gurnam Singh Chaduni. Addressing the farmers at the protest site, Chaduni said the government should immediately begin the procurement process. The protest caused inconvenience to commuters using the highway and police had to divert traffic. Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal on Friday said that 20 of the 56 obsolete laws identified in the state have been repealed and asked the officials to work on scrapping of the remaining others. Kaushal was presiding over a meeting regarding the repeal of obsolete laws and acts, according to an official statement. The repealing of these laws was done following the recommendations of Haryana State Review Committee. The committee was constituted under the chairmanship of Justice (Retd) Iqbal Singh, Commissioner of Gurdwara Commission, on the direction of the state chief minister. It took the decision to scrap these laws in consultation with the second Haryana Law Commission, the statement said. Kaushal said the review committee had recommended repealing of 56 obsolete laws and to amend six other laws and Acts.
Haryana reported nearly 37,000 cybercrime-related complaints till August this year and 15,000 of them have been disposed of, officials said. A meeting of 29 cyber police station incharges and all district nodal officers for cybercrime of deputy superintendent of police and additional SP rank officers was held in Panchkula on Thursday. It was chaired by O P Singh, additional DGP (Crime) and state nodal officer for cybercrime for the state. During the meeting, officials said that till August this year, 36,996 cybercrime-related complaints were received on helpline number 1930, cybercrime portal, 309 cyber desks and 29 cyber police stations in the state. Over 20,000 of them are under process and nearly 15,057 have been disposed of, officials told the meeting. Police recovered an improvised explosive device (IED) weighing 1.16 kg from Haryana's Kaithal district on Monday. The IED was packed with RDX and the recovery was made from the roadside in a village at Kainchi Chowk on the Jind road, police said. Acting on a tip-off, the Special Task Force (STF) of the Haryana Police recovered the IED in the evening hours. "The IED weighs 1.16 kg," Station House Officer (SHO) of the Titram police station Inspector Ramlal said over the phone. It was kept in an iron box, he added. The area was sealed and the bomb disposal squad summoned, which defused the explosive, police said. A case has been registered under the provisions of the Explosive Substances Act, the SHO said.
