Chinese President Xi Jinping and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Wednesday exchanged barbs on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Bali over the leaked reports of their meeting. In perhaps a very rare open remark captured on television camera, an agitated Xi was seen objecting to Trudeau saying whatever they discussed in their earlier meeting was leaked to the media. "Everything we discuss has been leaked to the paper, that's not appropriate," Xi told Trudeau through a translator on the sidelines of the closing session of the G20 meeting. "That is not how the way the conversation was conducted," he said. Xi spoke in Chinese which his official interpreter conveyed in English to Trudeau. Underlining that access to education is a human right and a pivotal tool for inclusive and sustainable economic recovery, the Bali G20 declaration on Wednesday vowed to act in solidarity with developing countries to rebuild more resilient, tech-enabled, accessible and effective education systems. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said India's G-20 presidency will be inclusive, ambitious and action-oriented, noting that it is taking the responsibility at a time the world is grappling with geopolitical tensions, economic slowdown and rising food and energy prices. The G20 members on Wednesday agreed that it was essential to uphold international law and multilateral system that safeguards peace and stability, but the differences among them was evident over the Russia-Ukraine conflict. A joint declaration issued at the end of the two-day G20 summit here acknowledged the differences over the Russia-Ukraine conflict, saying most members strongly condemned it.
