Explosives dumped by Maoists along Odisha-Andhra border seized: Police

A large amount of explosives suspected to have been dumped by the Maoists along the Andhra Pradesh-Odisha has been seized, police said. Acting on a tip-off, police seized 50 kg of explosive codex wire, 100 detonators and 15 radio sets in Lamataput area in Koraput district, Superintendent of Police Avinav Sonkar said. He said the explosives are suspected to have been dumped by the Andhra-Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC) of the banned CPI (Maoist) outfit for future use against security forces.

Govt exempts Isro from provisions of explosives rule to promote business

The government has exempted the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) from taking its approval for manufacturing, storage, use and transportation of solid propellant for space rockets to promote ease of doing business. Earlier, ISRO was required to take a license from the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisations (PESO), an arm of the department for promotion of industry and internal trade (DPIIT). A solid propellant is the main fuel used in a category of space rockets. According to a notification of the DPIIT, the exemption is subject to a few conditions. "The central government hereby exempts Indian Space Research Organisation from the operation of all the provisions of the Explosives rule 2008 for manufacturing, storage, use and transportation of solid propellant for space rockets falling under UN Class I (explosives)," the notification said. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested one more person in connection with the recovery of more than 2,400 kg of explosives meant for a Myanmar-based group fighting against the government, an official said on Tuesday. Lalringsanga (54) was arrested on Monday from Aizawl in connection with the case, a spokesperson of the federal agency said. The NIA said the case pertains to the recovery of 2,421 kg of explosives, 1,000 detonators, 4,500 metres of detonating fuse wire, and cash -- Rs 73,500 and over 9.35 lakh Myanmar kyat -- from a vehicle at Tipa in Mizoram on January 21. Three men travelling in the vehicle -- Sangkima (Myanmarese national), M C Lallungrualpuia and Lalthlengliana -- were arrested and a case under relevant sections of the Explosive Substances Act and the Foreigners Act was registered at Tipa police station, the spokesperson said. Huge cache of explosives seized in Jharkhand's Latehar district: Police

A huge cache of explosives were seized in Jharkhand's Latehar district, police said on Sunday. Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Jharkhand Police and CRPF raided Budha Pahad area, once considered to be a hotbed of Maoist activities, and unearthed the hidden cache, a police officer said. Latehar Additional Superintendent of Police (Operations) Santosh Kumar Mishra said that IEDs and detonators of various kinds were seized from the spot, which is around 160 km from Ranchi. This was the second major haul of explosives from the area in recent times. A week ago, a huge cache of arms and ammunitions, including 17 rifles and 200 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were seized from the area.

NIA files chargesheet against 11 accused in Rajasthan explosives case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday filed a chargesheet against 11 accused, including 10 residents of Madhya Pradesh, in a case related to the recovery of explosives from a private car in Rajasthan about six months ago, an official said. The chargsheet against the members of Sufa terrorist gang, who had hatched a conspiracy to commit terrorist acts, was filed before a special NIA Court in Jaipur, a spokesperson of the federal agency said. The case was initially registered on April 30 at Nimbaheda Police Station in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan following the recovery of explosives and was later re-registered by the NIA on May 20. Security forces recover explosives near LoC in J-K's Poonch district

Security forces on Thursday recovered explosives near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, officials said. During a search operation, Army troops found a bag near the LoC in Noorkot area, they said. They recovered a radio set, grenades, one circuit and one metal box, which is likely to be an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), from the bag, they said. Vehicle with explosive substance found near Mukesh Ambani's house in Mumbai

A suspicious vehicle with gelatin, an explosive material, inside was found parked near industrialist Mukesh Ambani's house in Mumbai on Thursday evening, police said. The vehicle was found on Carmichael Road near 'Antilia', Ambani's residence, a police official said. A Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) team reached the spot immediately, he said. It was not an assembled explosive device, he said, adding that further investigation was on. Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh told newschannels that the vehicle, a Scorpio van, was found some distance away from the multi-storey residence of Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Industries. 1,525 kg of explosives, 6,000 detonators seized in Meghalaya, 6 arrested

Six person were arrested in Meghalaya's East Jaintia Hills district with a huge quantity of explosives and detonators, police said on Friday. Acting on a tip-off about possible movement of explosives, police conducted raids in the 4 Kilo area on Wednesday night, they said. An SUV with Assam registration was intercepted at Kongong in the Ladrymbai police outpost area, police said. Ten cartons with 250 kg of explosives (2,000 gelatin sticks), 1,000 live detonators and eight rolls of fuse were found in the car, said Assistant Inspector General of Police GK Iangrai. Two persons who were travelling in the vehicle were arrested, he said. Based on the information obtained from them, four more persons were arrested, leading to a hideout in the 5 Kilo area in Khliehriat where the explosives were suspected to have been loaded in the vehicle, he added.
