Chhattisgarh CM announces procurement of 20 quintals of paddy per acre

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday announced that the state government will procure 20 quintals of paddy per acre instead of the existing 15 quintals. He made the announcement in the state Assembly while replying to discussions on the Chhattisgarh Appropriation Bill, 2023. The Congress-ruled state would be facing Assembly elections by the end of this year. After discussions, the budget of 1,21,500 crore for 2023-24 was passed in the House. His government was committed to empowerment of 'annadata' (crop growers) and had decided to procure 20 quintals of paddy per acre in place of existing 15 quintals per acre, Baghel said. Further, educated unemployed youth in the state will be given allowance of Rs 2,500 from April 1, he announced. Unemployed youth in the age group of 18 to 35 years who have passed class 12, and with annual family income of less than Rs 2.50 lakh will benefit from the scheme, he said.

Ch'garh cabinet approves anti-naxal policy changes, journalists safety bill

The Chhattisgarh government on Friday made changes in its anti-Naxalite policy related to compensation and other facilities, and also approved the draft of a bill that aims to enshrine protection of mediapersons in law. A key change in the policy will enable the family of a person from outside Chhattisgarh to receive compensation in case of death in Naxalite violence in the insurgency-affected state. These decisions were taken by the state cabinet at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel in the Assembly premises here. 'Chhattisgarh govt to carry out survey of beneficiaries for housing scheme'

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Saturday said if the Union government did not conduct a survey of eligible beneficiaries for a housing scheme, the state government will carry it out itself. Replying to the debate on the motion of thanks on the Governor's address in the Legislative Assembly, Baghel said his government was committed to provide pucca houses to all eligible beneficiaries. The motion of thanks was passed after discussion. The last Census took place in 2011 and it was necessary to collect information about the changes in the lives of common citizens so that eligible beneficiaries could get the benefit of welfare schemes, the chief minister said. Chhattisgarh CM accuses ED, IT dept of illegal action, intimidation

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday termed the actions of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Income Tax department as illegal and politically motivated, and accused officials of assaulting and intimidating people. The chief minister attacked the probe agencies in a series of tweets in Hindi on his personal Twitter handle. The ED had recently arrested four persons, including IAS officer Sameer Vishnoi, in connection with a money laundering case linked to the alleged extortion of mining transporters. SC issues notice on Chhattisgarh govt plea against HC order over jobs quota

The Supreme Court Friday sought response on an appeal challenging a Chhattisgarh High Court order which set aside the state government's 2012 decision to raise the quota to 58 per cent in government jobs and admissions in educational institutions. A bench of Justices B R Gavai and Vikram Nath issued notices to Guru Ghasidas Sahitya Avam Sanskriti Academy against the September 19, 2022 order of the high court. The state government, in its plea filed through advocate Sumeer Sodhi, contended that the Chhattisgarh High Court passed the order without examining the facts of the case and the figures supplied. The high court had set aside the state government's 2012 decision to raise the quota to 58 per cent in government jobs and admissions in educational institutions and held that reservation exceeding the 50 per cent ceiling is unconstitutional. Chhattisgarh records 6 coronavirus cases, no new death; active tally at 39

Chhattisgarh on Tuesday reported six new COVID-19 cases at a positivity rate of 0.25 per cent, taking the overall tally to 11,77,684, while the death toll remain unchanged at 14,145, an official said. The recovery count stood at 11,63,500 after 9 people recovered during the day, leaving the state with 39 active cases, he said. Durg led with 2 cases, followed by 1 in Raipur, among other districts. No coronavirus cases were reported in 23 of the 28 districts, said the official. With 2,366 swab samples examined during the day, the tally of tests carried out so far in the state went up to 1,87,75,096, he added. Chhattisgarh's coronavirus figures are as follows: Positive cases 11,77,684, new cases 6, death toll 14,145, recovered 11,63,500, active cases 39, today tests 2,366, total tests 1,87,75,096.

Chhattisgarh records 9 coronavirus cases, no new death; active tally at 103

Chhattisgarh on Tuesday reported nine new COVID-19 cases at a positivity rate of 1.04 per cent, taking the overall tally to 11,77,645, while no fresh death linked to the infection was registered in the state, an official said. The death toll remain unchanged at 14,144. The recovery count stood at 11,63,398 after 22 people recovered during the day, leaving the state with 103 active cases, he said. Durg led with 7 cases followed by 2 in Dhamtari district. No new coronavirus cases were reported in 26 of the 28 districts, said the official. With 862 swab samples examined during the day, the tally of coronavirus tests carried out so far in the state went up to 1,87,57,478, he added. Chhattisgarh's coronavirus figures are as follows: Positive cases 11,77,645, new cases 9, death toll 14,144, recovered 11,63,398, active cases 103, total tests 1,87,57,478.
