With rising petrol and diesel prices driving up demand for its CNG vehicles, the country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India plans to widen its CNG portfolio by offering the fuel option in four more models 'very shortly', according to a senior company official. The company, which plans to launch an electric vehicle (EV) in the Indian market by 2025, is also currently keeping a close watch on the country's EV ecosystem "to find out what is the best way of evolution" to be able to offer affordable EVs with hassle free charging infrastructure in order to clock high volumes for a sustainable business. "Currently we have eight models, which have CNG options out of our total of 14 models but we plan to add another four very shortly in this portfolio," Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) Senior Executive Director (Marketing & Sales) Shashank Srivastava told PTI. Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) on Monday said its SUV Thar has crossed 75,000 cumulative bookings mark in one year of its launch in the country. The all-new Thar continued its relentless march to automotive folklore and clocked 75,000 bookings just a year after its launch on Mahindra Group's 75th Anniversary on October 2, 2020, the automaker said in a statement. It has breached the traditional boundaries set by off-roaders and invaded into the dreams of metro-based young, urban buyers who are looking for an authentic yet sophisticated SUV experience, it added. The company noted that 40 per cent of the bookings of the model have come from millennials. "Another interesting fact is that almost 50 per cent of the bookings are for the automatic variant and 25 per cent of the total bookings are for the petrol variant," it added. Tata Motors domestic wholesales increase 28% in September

Tata Motors on Friday said its total domestic wholesales increased 28 per cent year-on-year (y-o-y) to 55,988 units in September. The company had dispatched a total of 44,410 units to its dealers in September 2020. The auto major said its total passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market stood at 25,730 units last month, compared with 21,199 units in the same month last year. Commercial vehicle sales in the domestic market stood at 30,258 units, up 30 per cent from 23,211 units in September 2020, it added. In the July-September 2021 quarter, the automaker sold a total of 1,71,270 units in the domestic market, up 55 per cent from 1,10,345 units in the second quarter of 2020-21. Honda Cars India reports 34 pc dip in domestic sales at 6,765 units in Sept

Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) on Friday reported a 33.66 year-on-year dip in domestic sales at 6,765 units for September. The company had sold 10,199 units in the domestic market during September 2020, HCIL said in a statement. Exports stood at 2,964 units last month as compared with 170 units in September 2020, it added. "On the demand side, there is good momentum in the market with improved buying sentiment. "However, the supply chain hurdles, including the widespread chip shortage, have been a big challenge right now for the industry, which impacted our production volume and despatches during last month," Honda Cars India Senior Vice-President and Director (Marketing and Sales) Rajesh Goel said. The company would continue to align its production through best efforts to tide over this shortage in the coming months, he added. Tata Motors rolls out 1,00,000th unit of Altroz from Pune plant

Tata Motors on Tuesday rolled out the 1,00,000th unit of its hatchback Altroz, from the company's manufacturing facility at Pune. The city-headquartered vehicle maker had commenced Altroz production at the fag-end of November 2019. It launched the vehicle in January 2020. The first vehicle model built on the ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) architecture, the Altroz, has acquired the top 2nd position in the premium hatchback category in the current fiscal, with more than 20 per cent share with an average monthly sale of around 6,000 units in FY22, Tata Motors said in a release. Moreover, the car clocked its maximum sales of 7,550 units in March this year, it added.
