Airtel's arm infusing Rs 600 cr to build east India's largest data center

Bharti Airtel subsidiary Nxtra Data Ltd Tuesday said the company will invest Rs 600 crore in the development of its largest data center in east India. The center when developed will serve the underserved markets of the east and north-east regions along with the SAARC countries, Nxtra Executive Director and chief operating officer Rajesh Tapadia said on the occasion of the ground breaking ceremony. The company will invest Rs 600 crore to build the 25 MW data center in Bengal Silicon Valley, Kolkata and will be fully operational by 2024, he said. It will also fulfill the growing needs of enterprises and global cloud players. "Nxtra is on an expansion spree and will invest over Rs 5000 crore over the next four years to expand its capacity by 3X to over 400 MW. The company has already invested and partnered with eight organisations to source more than 180,000 MWh of renewable energy," Tapadia said. Bharti Airtel starts offering 5G service around 13 locations in Gurugram

Telecom operator Bharti Airtel on Tuesday announced the launch of 5G services at around 13 locations in Gurugram. The service will be available to customers in a phased manner as the company continues to construct its network and complete the roll-out, the company said. "I am thrilled to announce the launch of Airtel 5G Plus in Gurugram. Airtel customers can now experience ultrafast network and enjoy speeds up to 20-30 times faster than the current 4G speeds. We are in the process of lightning the entire city which will allow customers to enjoy superfast access to high-definition video streaming, gaming, multiple chatting, instant uploading of photos and more," Bharti Airtel, Delhi NCR, CEO Nidhi Lauria said. Equity benchmarks surrendered early gains to close with losses on Wednesday, snapping their four-day winning streak as investors pared exposure to telecom, realty and tech stocks amid a mixed trend in global markets. Investors were also cautious ahead of the US Federal Reserve's meeting on interest rates, while a depreciating rupee further weighed on sentiment, traders said. Airtel says crossed 1 million customers on 5G network amid network build-up

Telecom operator Bharti Airtel on Wednesday said it has surpassed 1 million customers on 5G network within 30 days of its commercial launch even while the network is being built. Earlier, Airtel had announced phase wise roll-out of its 5G services in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Siliguri, Nagpur and Varanasi. The services in these cities are getting rolled out in a phased manner as the company continues to construct its network and complete the roll-out, according to Airtel. All 5G phones except iPhone to work on Airtel network from mid-Nov: CEO

All 5G enabled smartphones, except Apple's iPhones, will start supporting Airtel 5G services by the middle of this month, a senior Bharti Airtel official said.
