Germany-based Uniper has signed an agreement with Greenko ZeroC to source green ammonia from the latter's Kakinada facility in Andhra Pradesh. "Under the MoU, the two companies intend to negotiate pricing, supply and tenure structure for a supply and purchase agreement for 2,50,000 tonnes per annum of green ammonia (GASPA) based on the heads of terms," parent Greenko Group said in a statement. Uniper and Greenko ZeroC signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and heads of terms during the ongoing India Energy Week in Bengaluru in presence of Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Greenko CEO Anil Chalmalasetty, Uniper CCO Niek den Hollander and other senior company officials, the statement said. The Andhra Pradesh government late on Saturday night constituted a one-man Commission of Inquiry to probe into the circumstances that led to two incidents of stampede in which 11 persons were killed in recent days. The Commission of Inquiry (CoI) will be headed by Justice B Seshasayana Reddy, a retired judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, an order issued by Chief Secretary K S Jawahar Reddy said. The CoI has been asked to submit its report in a month. Eight persons were killed in a stampede at Kandukuru town in SPS Nellore district on December 28, 2022 during a political meeting of Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu. More than 95,000 women beneficiaries, who were given house sites in Andhra Pradesh two years ago, are now refusing to build houses under a government scheme for a variety of reasons. In fact, they have been asking the state government to provide them sites at alternative locations as the layouts now proposed are either far away from human habitations or close to burial grounds. This has pushed the government into a quandary as it will be required to spend close to Rs 800 crore to find alternative sites. One more person who was injured in a stampede during a programme organised by the TDP in Kandukur town in Nellore district succumbed while undergoing treatment on Wednesday night, taking the toll to eight, police said on Thursday. The victims, including two women died and eight others were injured on Wednesday after they fell in a drainage canal when the Leader of Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu was addressing a roadshow there. People gathered in large numbers at the venue and there was some jostling among the public during the meeting, leading to a stampede-like situation at the canal, they had said based on initial information. Some of the injured are undergoing treatment in hospital. Naidu, who immediately cancelled the meeting, announced Rs 10 lakh to the kin of the deceased. Crime rate in Andhra Pradesh has come down in 2022 to 2,31,359 cases from 2,84,753 in 2021, by undertaking visible policing, awareness programmes and effective management of women police services, among other activities, DGP K.V. Rajendranath Reddy said on Wednesday. A report released by him said as many as 945 murder cases were registered in 2021, while in 2022 it was only 857. According to him, the overall conviction rate stood at 66 per cent even as over one lakh cases have been settled through Lok Adalat. Crime against women has come down due to geo mapping of crime-prone areas, use of Disha App and constant vigil buy women police, he said. However, there is slight increase in domestic violence cases in the State. The DGP said there is an increase of cyber crimes in 2022 as against 2021.
