The Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday is likely to announce health-related "guarantees" for voters in Himachal Pradesh where polls are scheduled later this year. The announcement of the "second guarantee" will be made at Kapila Farm in Una district by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. The AAP, which is trying to make a foray in the state, had on August 17 given voters guarantees related to uplift of educational standards. It is expected that the "second guarantee" will be regarding improving healthcare facilities in the hill state. Mann and Sisodia had last week said that all schools in the state will be improved on the lines of those in Delhi, private ones will not be allowed to hike fees illegally, temporary teachers will be regularised, vacant posts of teacher will be filled and they won't be given any non-teaching work.

A special session of the Delhi Assembly will be held Friday amid a political slugfest over action by central probe agencies in the Kejriwal government's excise policy and the AAP accusing the BJP of trying to lure its MLAs. The Assembly session is scheduled to be held from 11 am on August 26, according to a document issued by the Delhi Assembly on Wednesday. Earlier in the day, AAP national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said the BJP's attempt to "topple" his government was a "serious issue". The matter was in the AAP's political Affairs Committee on Wednesday evening. In a meeting of the committee held at Kejriwal's residence, the panel condemned the BJP's alleged efforts to lure its MLAs. The AAP leaders have alleged that four MLAs were offered money by the BJP to quit the party. The ED has registered a money laundering case against Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and others to probe the alleged irregularities in the Delhi Excise policy after taking
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said some of his MLAs have approached him alleging that they have been threatened and offered bribes to break the party and the AAP's political affairs committee will meet on Wednesday to take stock of the situation. A couple of days back, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia who is facing a CBI probe in connection with alleged corruption in the implementation of Excise Policy 2021-22, had claimed that he was offered the CM's post by the BJP and a withdrawal of all cases, if he quit AAP. "Some MLAs have approached me and told me that they have been threatened, offered bribes to break the party. This is a very serious matter. We will have a political affairs committee meeting over the issue at 4 pm today to take stock of the situation," he told reporters. AAP's national spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said the legislators -- Ajay Dutt, Sanjeev Jha, Somnath Bharati and Kuldeep -- have been approached by leaders of the Bharatiya Janata
After the Enforcement Directorate registered a money laundering case over the Delhi excise policy, the AAP on Tuesday said it had to happen as Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia rejected the BJP's offer to join it to free himself from charges in the matter. Sisodia is ready to go behind bars but he would not "bow down" before the BJP, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) added. Official sources said the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has registered a money laundering case to probe alleged irregularities in the excise policy allegedly involving Sisodia and others. The federal agency has filed the case under the criminal sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) after taking cognisance of a CBI FIR that has named Sisodia and 14 others. Reacting to the news about registration of the case by the ED, AAP national spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said in a tweet in Hindi, This had to happen. They (from BJP) had threatened Manish ji that if he does not join the BJP, the E

BJP's national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said that Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and his Deputy CM Manish Sisodia have no answer to the questions raised by the BJP on the irregularities in excise policy
Fearing that Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy CM Manish Sisodia could be attacked during their visit to Gujarat on Monday and Tuesday, AAP has sought more police protection for the two leaders
The much-debated issue today has caught attention of common citizens across many states is the freebies politics that originated from the national capital Delhi in some ways.
Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal on Saturday demanded immediate release of compensation of Rs 50,000 for each cattle that died due to lumpy skin disease. In a statement here, the SAD president expressed shock that even as "thousands of cattle" had fallen prey to lumpy skin disease since July, the AAP government was still "indulging in propaganda and advertisements". "No effort is being made to take concrete steps at the ground level by coming to the aid of dairy farmers by compensating them for their cattle loss as well as preventing the further spread of the disease," Badal said. Lumpy skin disease infects cows and buffaloes mainly through vectors like blood-feeding insects. It leads to the formation of nodes on the animal's skin or hide that look like lumps, fever, runny nose, reduced milk yield and difficulty in eating. Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Gujarat and Andaman and Nicobar Islands have been hit by the outbreak of the disease. Badal said, "Farmers have los
The opposition Congress and SAD on Saturday demanded a probe into Punjab's excise policy, alleging it was a "sellout" and the state was "defrauded" like in Delhi where its liquor policy is under the CBI scanner. The demand in AAP-ruled Punjab came a day after CBI carried out searches at 31 places which included premises related to Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia as well as some bureaucrats and businessmen over alleged irregularities in Delhi Excise policy 2021-22. Congress Legislative Party leader in Punjab Assembly Partap Singh Bajwa along with other party leaders said they will meet the governor seeking a probe into the excise policy in Punjab. "Like Delhi, the liquor policy in Punjab is a sellout in which the AAP leaders in connivance with some senior officials have defrauded the state of thousands of crores of rupees, besides rendering hundreds of Punjabi traders jobless," Bajwa alleged. He also said the Congress will seek an NIA probe into "illegal sand mining going
The BJP is repeating its lies about Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia hoping people will eventually believe those as the outcome of the CBI's 15-hour raid at his residence and 30 locations across India was "zero", the AAP alleged Saturday. Hitting back at Union Minister Anurag Thakur for calling Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal "kingpin of irregularities" in the Delhi Excise Policy, the AAP said the country is watching how Prime Minister Narendra Modi is "misusing" the central probe agencies to "harass" the Delhi government. By targeting Kejriwal, the BJP is actually positioning the AAP national convenor as the principal challenger to Modi ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the party said. "The CBI raided 31 locations and carried out searches for several hours but the probe agency did not tell what their sleuths found at Sisodia's residence and how much gold they recovered," AAP chief spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj told a press conference. He termed the CBI raids a ...
As AAP leaders have begun projecting their party chief Arvind Kejriwal as an alternative to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, BJP MP Parvesh Verma on Saturday hit back saying claims made by "four people" should not be taken seriously. "Was there a survey by any news channel? Was any survey conducted among the people on whether Kejriwal can challenge Modi? This is being said by four AAP members -Saurabh Bhardwaj, Sanjay Singh, Atishi and Raghav Chadha. Who else is saying this?" Verma said in reply to a question at a press conference. "If there is some survey among the people of the country, if they say Kejriwal could be (an alternative), we will accept it. How can you accept anything said by just four people" he asked. Verma also alleged that some of the accused in the FIR registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with excise policy "scam" were close to AAP leaders. At a press conference earlier in the day, Delhi Deputy Chief Minis
PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday slammed the Congress, accusing it of failing to rally the opposition in support of the Aam Aadmi Party, whose leaders are being investigated by central agencies. Congress leader Manickam Tagore hit back, saying Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and his "gang" were caught in a "real corrupt act" and deserve to be brought to justice. Mufti took to Twitter also to remind the Congress that its leaders too were "victims" of the "Enforcement Directorate onslaught". Delhi Congress leaders and workers staged a protest on Saturday demanding the resignation of Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia a day after the CBI carried out raids at his residence in connection with the alleged irregularities in the rollout of Delhi's Excise Policy 2021-22. "Sad that the Congress is unable to rise above party interests because AAP is a formidable opponent. Having been a victim themselves of ED (Enforcement Directorate) onslaught yet they are joining BJPs ...
A court here on Saturday acquitted Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, his deputy Manish Sisodia and former AAP leader Yogendra Yadav in a defamation case filed by an advocate in 2013. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vidhi Gupta Anand said the complainant, advocate Surender Kumar Sharma (now deceased), failed to prove that the accused have committed the alleged offence despite several efforts. In the order, the judge also said the concept of "Reputation was known in the society perhaps since the time the civilization itself established". She quoted a text from Bhagwat Geeta "People also will speak of your unending infamy. And to an honoured person infamy is worse than death" and said the text "dates back to 2nd century CE (common era) highlighting the importance of a person's reputation". "Even today, in modern India, governed by its Constitution, Right to reputation has been embedded as one of the fundamental rights covered under the larger concept of Right to Life. Hence, ..
People in many states do not know Kejriwal and his party. It would be very good for the BJP if Kejriwal is Opposition's face for the 2024 election as most people have not even heard his name, he said
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday said he and his deputy Manish Sisodia will visit Gujarat next week with a message that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will provide free and quality education as well as healthcare services if it is voted to power in the state in upcoming assembly polls. The AAP national convenor said he and Sisodia will be in Gujarat for two days during which they will also hold interaction with youth. "On Monday, Manish ji and I will go to Gujarat for two days - to guarantee education and health. Like Delhi, We will open good schools, good hospitals and mohalla clinics in Gujarat as well. Everyone will get good education and medical treatment for free. People will get so much relief. Will interact with youth also," Kejriwal tweeted in Hindi. Kejriwal made the announcement a day after the CBI raided Sisodia's residence in connection with an alleged scam in the formulation of Delhi excise policy. While the CBI raid lasted for more than 14 hours, AAP leader
BJP on Saturday sharpened its attack on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, with Union Minister Anurag Thakur describing him as the "kingpin" of the "liquor scam" in the capital. Addressing a press conference here, Thakur said the AAP should not try to divert attention from the excise scam by raising other issues as its "real face has been unmasked". Taking a dig at Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Thakur referred to him as "Money Shh", alleging that alleges he makes money and maintains silence. Thakur was flanked by Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta and Lok Sabha member Manoj Tiwari. The CBI on Friday morning carried out searches at the residences of Sisodia and IAS officer Arava Gopi Krishna apart from 19 other locations after registering an FIR in connection with the alleged corruption in implementation of the Delhi excise policy.
A day after CBI conducted searches, Manish Sisodia said that he might be arrested soon stating that the liquor issue or the excise policy was just an excuse to target him
