The political outcome of the events in Maharashtra is in no doubt: Uddhav Thackeray has been deposed as chief minister and the situation is ripe for a change of leadership (even if some of the faces in the next government will likely be the same).

However, it is the legal outcome that is still playing itself out. How will Eknath Shinde and his band of merry men actually form the government? Will it be via a simple floor test? Or some other complicated manoeuvre?
