LIVE: Odisha minister shot in the chest by cop dies hours later at hospital

Odisha Health Minister Naba Kisore Das died today hours after he was shot by an assistant sub-inspector. The incident occurred around 1 pm at Gandhi Chowk near Brajarajnagar in Jharsuguda district. The minister was shot in the chest when he was on his way to attend a programme. He was rushed to the Apollo Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. "The injuries were repaired, and steps were taken to improve the pumping of the heart. He was given urgent ICU care. But despite best of efforts, he could not be revived and succumbed to his injuries," the hospital said in a statement.

Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal on Saturday called for creation of an international network of mentors, investors and entrepreneurs to strengthen the global startup ecosystem. The Minister said that this network must support and inspire startups, act as a team to facilitate exchange of ideas, best practices and funding mechanisms and promote collaborations in Research and Development. The Union minister was addressing the inaugural session of the Inception Meeting of the Startup 20 Engagement Group of G20 in Hyderabad.
