India to deploy single largest platoon of women peacekeepers in Abyei

This is India's largest single unit of women peacekeepers in a UN Mission since it deployed the first-ever all-women's contingent in Liberia in 2007

India on Friday announced that it has deployed an all-women platoon in Abyei on the border between South Sudan and Sudan. It is India's largest single unit of female Blue Helmets in a UN mission since 2007. The country is among the largest troop-contributing countries to UN peacekeeping missions.
