India reported an increase of 601 in active coronavirus cases to take its count to 149,482. The country is twenty-eighth among the most affected countries globally by active cases. On July 22, it added 21,880 cases to take its total caseload to 43,847,065. And, with 60 new fatalities, its Covid-19 death toll reached 525,930, or 1.20 per cent of total confirmed infections.
 
With 3,706,997 more Covid-19 vaccine doses being administered on July 21, India’s total count of vaccine shots so far reached 2,013,097,819. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 43,171,653 — or 98.46 per cent of the total caseload — with 21,219 new cured cases being reported on July 22.
