Data story: India logs 13,615 new Covid cases, active tally at 131,043

India reported an increase of 330 in active coronavirus cases to take its count to 131,043. The country is twenty-fifth among the most affected countries globally by active cases. On July 12, it added 13,615 cases to take its total caseload to 43,652,944. And, with 20 new fatalities, its Covid-19 death toll reached 525,474, or 1.20 per cent of total confirmed infections.

With 1,064,038 more Covid-19 vaccine doses being administered on July 11, India’s total count of vaccine shots so far reached 1,990,059,536. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 42,996,427 — or 98.50 per cent of the total caseload — with 13,265 new cured cases being reported on July 12.
