18% people in India reinfected with Covid-19 in last 6 months: Survey

Around 46 per cent of those surveyed said their second infection was more severe than the first one

India is witnessing a surge in Covid-19 infections, with around 12,000 cases being reported nationally every day, and many of these are reinfections. A new survey by LocalCircles, which received 35,000 responses from citizens across 301 districts of the country, showed that around 18 per cent of the respondents had at least one family member who got reinfected with the novel coronavirus (Sars-CoV-2) in the last six months.

Around 46 per cent of those surveyed said their second infection was more severe than the first one. LocalCircles noted that their findings indicated that Covid-19 reinfections were more common with Omicron
